Where To Mount Radar Detector In '14 JGC?

Option A

Option B

Option C

There's another option, put it lower on the bottom of the windshield right up almost against the dash. Down side is, I'll have to run the wires much farther. Not to mention, it will block the windshield air vents which may be a problem with heat and when foggy. Plus side is, if the mount falls off, it wont damage anything.

I'm liking Option A the best at the moment. Doesn't require me to buy a new mount. It's up high and less visible. But if it falls, I run the risk of damage to my center console/dash and detector. Also, it does interfere with the passenger side visor going all the way down, but who cares about that.

Option B looks best from driver seat, but it blocks the rear sensor completely and looks obvious from the outside. It's also directly above my navi unit, which also controls everything on the car, so if it falls.... :noes:

I also have to find a place to wire it in. Can't use the power cord I have right now without it going all over the place. :sad2:

Or just sell the shit and forget about it.

It depends on the radar/laser threat in your area. If the largest threat is Radar, than mount up high on the window. If laster, than mount as low as possible.

Personally, I prefer below the rear view mirror.

Well, how do I find that out?

I mounted mine off the rear view mirror and tapped into the wiring harness for power.

Re: Where To Mount Radar Detector In '14 JGC?

I don't know if it's a good a idea, but my dash cam is already powered by the mirror. Don't know if I can or should do a dual piggy back on it....

Re: Where To Mount Radar Detector In '14 JGC?

Here is how I mounted my detector. I was thinking about getting a blend mount to mount under the mirror. But that would have put it right in my field of view, creating too much of a blind spot. I already have to look around the mirror itself sometimes to look for traffic coming from the right, having the detector hanging under it would have made it a lot worse. Now it's nicely tucked out of view.

I used an invisicord to tap into the mirror wiring harness for power. The suction cups are holding up surprisingly well and if they do let go, the detector will rest on the mirror before falling down.

Re: Where To Mount Radar Detector In '14 JGC?

To update this thread, I went the Blendmount route. I used their BBE-2002 body assembly instead of the BBE-2000. The 2002 is a little bit shorter. I had to modify the mount clip and cut off about a 1/4". This allows the radar detector to sit up higher and closer to the mirror.

So far, I love the mount setup, I'm just not a fan of how visible the radar detector is. I've already had 1 attempt at someone trying to break into my vehicle and I believe the reason is because the detector was in plain view. There's nothing else in the vehicle that's visible.

I might try the new StickCup mount and put it in Option A and see how it is. Just to get a feel. Only $25, so I figure it's not a big loss if I don't like it.

I HATE those mini suction cup holders. POS, IMO.

Question though. How'd you route the wire?

How did you hardwire both the dash cam and the radar to the mirror?
