How about EMI (Electromagnetic interference)?
Could the high voltage ballast and wiring lead to complications with the vehicle electronics (Radio/ABS/Airbag...) or is everything properly shielded?
It won't discussing this before installing non-approved high-voltage components. Maybe I'm over-analyzing this issue?
I'll ask Xenondepot.

That's why most people that know anything about an HID kit will tell you that a wiring harness/relay is one of the most important if not THE most important item in your setup. As for EMI, that's not on every kit and it's not detrimental to your car if it doesn't have it but it's nice not to have static when listening to the radio.

I see the point of supplying power via direct battery connection and relay to the ballast and using the stock harness simply to trigger the relay...
however this setup won't eliminate the electromagnetic field generated by the high voltage ballast/ignitor.
If there would be a larger issue with this we would have heard by now I suppose...

What do you think this EMF would do to your Jeep? I've never heard of any issues relating to that except for the radio interference with kits that don't have EMI blocking.

Well, I quickly googled EMi and cars, not saying there is much to it but...
Hey, I'm not too worried but of course I would feel better if these kits would be at lease approved/tested as components, are they?
Cars and other vehicles now contain many electronic systems. These range from electronic engine management systems to achieve maximum efficiency to electronically operated airbags to protect the driver in the event of a crash. Unfortunately this leaves cars more vulnerable to electromagnetic interference. Mobile phones and passing taxi radios have been known to interfere with Anti-skid Braking Systems (ABS) and airbags, causing drivers to lose control of the car. Car ignition has been changed recently to a short high voltage spark, although better for exhaust emissions this causes wideband interference. As the car industry is very competitive, cutbacks are often made on the wiring, which increases the risk of susceptibility.
The inclusion of computers in cars for navigation purposes will also increase the susceptibility.
Automobiles are covered in the Automotive Directive; this excludes them from the EMC Directive on sub-assemblies and devices that may be sold separately from the vehicles. All of the systems in the car have to be able to work simultaneously without interference from each other; ignition interference and external radiated interference. However, interference from objects brought into the car, such as mobile phones and laptops, may have been missed out. Additionally, household electronics can be affected by cars outside, in the street or garage, which is especially relevant in houses with small front gardens.

Some kit ballasts come with shielded high voltage wires, not sure if this is better though.

That's actually the ballast I use on my mom and dad's vehicles that I did a retrofit for them. The reason they're not approved/tested is because it's a so called "illegal" item to add to your vehicle. If it didn't come OEM I believe it is considered like that. Whether it be an Ebay projector or an OEM projector, they're both still better than sticking it in your stock reflector lights.

As long as you run a wire harness/relay and buy a reputable kit from a reputable dealer you won't have a thing to worry about.

Re: Which HID to buy???

I bought a 4300K "Volt" kit from Xenondepot with relay harness and CanBus Fix (capacitor).
Says: Dual EMI Filter protection Circuit shielding...

I'm sending a thank you to the Führerhauptquartier
Reichsminister: You're pretty up-beat about those conversions, right?
I'm sure you read this from Daniel Stern, have you? http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html
That guy for sure hates conversions but the facts seem to be on his side...
I've bought the Xenondepot 4300K 35W kit simply because I'm so darn curious (their service is great)
Can it really work? For sure I need the lo-beams not as fog lights but the light needs to be useful, let's see, if it doesn't work the kit is removed and scrapped quickly :-)
Once I have that WK2 in the garage and a bit of time on hand I'll install the HID and the Tailight Solutions rear fog light conversion and will report back.
