Which replacement HIDs (2016 HA)?

Hi all, I've found a few threads talking about replacing the factory HID bulbs, but honestly I'm still not sure which ones are right for me.

I will be doing the SRT fog lights, and I want the cleanest, whitest light possible. I don't want much "blue" to them, and certainly not purple. That said, I'd rather have a hint of blue than any yellow to them.

Are these right? Amazon.com: OSRAM D2S CBI Cool Blue Intense Xenon HID Headlight Bulbs 5000K (Two Bulbs): Automotive

Re: Which replacement HIDs (2016 HA)?

Your lights should still be a D3S, as my 2014 headlights are.

Confirm that first, I went with these:
D3S - Philips X-tremeVision 42403XVC1 5000k Bulb | 42403XVC1 xenon | Philips 5000k D3S

Which are no doubt brighter and white than the stock Osram's

However do a search, some guys have upgraded to another model of Osram's, maybe the one you referenced, and the light output possibly looked greater and whiter than mine.

Good luck

You want the Osram D3 CBI's if you want a 5000K....the ultinons are 6000K so they may be a bit whiter .....not sure what color the stock LED's are but I am guessing they may be closer to the 4300K hid's that come with the jeep...

https://www.blackopsautoworks.com/co...ant=9431232581

I'm using the D3 Osram CBI's (5000K) in my 2014 with a set of opt 7 Led fogs(6000K)

this is what they look like

my jeep is on the right...and my durango with the stock 4300K hids is on the left

No you need the D3S not the D2S. The CBIs are good thats what i have with the SRT LEDs, CBIs are 5000k. I think the 6000k phillips D3S will actually be a little closer in color to the LEDs then the 5000k CBIs but you will loose a few hundered lumens with the 6000ks. The 5000k CBIs will give you same lumens as the 4300k stock. So you can pick between closer color match (6000k) or not loosing any lumens (5000k CBIs)

Re: Which replacement HIDs (2016 HA)?

CBIs would be the way to go, but just remember the stock bulbs are of high quality as well and probably produce the most "useable" light on the road.
Also, be careful because I have heard a couple horror stories on this forum of guys doing a bulb swap and it turning into a disaster. Shops not seating the new bulbs correctly and probably damaging them in the process...in other words guys just ended up wishing they never touched them. So its not the easiest job to swap bulbs, and if you pay someone to do it please don't go to some random corner shop as they don't know what the hell they're doing. Atleast go to a dealer where they are somewhat familiar and would atleast back the work....you would hope anyway.

According to Osram the 5000K CBI's actually put out more lumens than the stock 4300K's ...I'm not sure I can say with any certainty that they are brighter than my stock 4300K's but they do look better from a color perspective.

Also...as far as installing them...it's actually quite easy to do yourself...takes 10 minutes to do them...you just need to twist off the headlight cover on the back of the light...then push a lever down...pull the bulb out and reinstall...I found a video online and managed to do it myself

I have a few extra sets of SRT headlights laying around my basement so i can take pics of the backside of the headlights if you want to see what they look like...should help you understand how easy it actually is...

yeah I agree they were pretty easy to put in. I was prepared for it take longer but was fairly quick job. CBIs are the best choice if you want to get the color closer to the LEDs but also put the most lumens you can on thd road. Its a good upgrade and xeondepot had their 20% off thing so thst helped.

Re: Which replacement HIDs (2016 HA)?

Yeah I heard the CBIs were one of the best to keep as much or more lumens than stock, but get the whiter color a lot of people like. That's good to hear they aren't difficult to install. I remember a story on here where one guy went through hell getting bulbs installed.

Yes that is them. One thing you have got to be careful of is that counterfeiting of these things is rampant. you should be ok buying them direct from amazon like in your link but be very careful buying from the third party amazon vendors or especially ebay. I bought mine from xenondepot and I verified they were authentic. OSRAM actually has an authenticity checker on their website to make sure your bulbs are not fakes, yes the fakes are everywhere. Amazon direct and xenondepot are roughly the same price and Id trust either of those. If a price anywhere else sounds to good to be true, IT IS and don't buy them they are likely fake. Amazon you will likely get them quicker than xenondepot if you want them soon. Its a good upgrade you will like them.

Thanks for all the help! You're right, the final price once you apply the XenonDepot 20% coupon is about the same, so I'm just going with them because I can be sure they're legit.
