Considering Cheif's other stuff is pretty nice this should be cool.

If this ever does get revived, I'm in the LA area and wouldn't mind loaning my Summit to you for a bit but the Summit fenders are a little different...

I wonder if someone could do something like what we are looking for with a 3D printer as a prototype, or if there are any companies with those capabilities willing to help

Re: Who is interested in an aftermarket fender flare alternative?

Well I reached out to Cheif products to see what they said about their project here because ultimately I do not care about money I just wanted a fender flare alternative for us

They said: "Hi Ben, Unfortunately we had to put the development of the WK2 Fender Flares on hold at the moment while we establish our Australian Retailer Network, North American warehousing and launch our marketing campaign. We'll be starting development again early next year. Unfortunately I don't have a target release date yet."

So - kinda bummed out currently. Would be cool if we could somehow figure this out as a community.

The 3d printing idea would be cool. I always thought about using painters tape around the areas where the fenders go then sculpt the fenders out of foam and fiberglassing over the foam to make molds. In theory , that would work.

I'm most excited about that. Plenty of cool parts coming from down under for the WK2, but the damn shipping cost to the US is what stops me from ordering something I think I need, but really don't.

I know that the right time to get the parts we want for our Jeeps is now, if we have the funds to afford it, but waiting for a likely project by Chief Products is not unreasonable. They would probably finish the flares they have in mind before we could even get a concept started, even if we could get that far.

So if they're that important to have now, get some Bushwackers in the meantime and swap them out when there's another option.

At least Chief P. is trying and I'm willing to wait for something done the proper way.

Re: Who is interested in an aftermarket fender flare alternative?

Gents,

I agree with many and have been interested for some time.

What some might be after is similar to the VW Amarok fender Flares.

Have a look at this link.

VW AMAROK FENDER FLARES

Have a look at the image attached as well, the flares are just bolt on.

I think more investigation can find something. Regards, JosephR
