Window Tint

Has anyone tinted the driver and passenger windows? What percent tint did you use and brand? Any idea what percent the rear factory tint is? Trying to figure out where and what to get mine tinted with. Pictures would be appreciated. Thanks!

They meter right at 20%. Depending on the brand and type to which one matches best. Some tints are more gray/charcoal than black. Go make them put some pieces up on the window and see which one you like best, but 20% in most tint brands should be good. If you're tint shop has 35% Suntek Titanium, it looked close.

Just got mine done today. Went to a local auto mall. Used "Formula One Pinnacle Ceramic" tint. Matched rear windows which was 15%. Looks good. Will take pictures once it stops snowing! Here's the product link: http://www.formulaone.com/en/Default.aspx

I messed with that picture a little bit though. They don't look that dark all the time...I'll take a regular picture so u have a more accurate representation of 35% , it matches the rear tint from the factory well though

Re: Window Tint

Just got my front windows tinted with Solar Gard UP Ceramic 30 (35%) and it's a bit lighter tint than the back windows. 20% would have been too dark for my eyes at nighttime to feel comfortable.

Re: Window Tint

I went to the audio shop where i always took my previous cars and family cars. They suggested to match the factory tint and i don't regret. I paid $49 and they did the sunroof at no charge. I think they used Solar gard.

Now i want to do something on the tail lights. I don't want it to be very dark, as i don't want to have problems.

Re: Window Tint

You should also take into account local legislation when accounting for the % tint to be used. In Illinois // Chicago 35% is right at the limit...

Re: Window Tint

I just got this done yesterday. Told the dude to match the back and now i have 35% all around. Not a problem during the daytime as i can see through the windows from a few yards away but i'm thinking they may be a little too dark at night time. I may have them redone and do something like 50% all around, which would still be illegal here in NYC but i probably wouldn't get pulled over for that. I know i'll probably get pulled over sooner or later with the 35s.

In NY anything below 70% is considered illegal which is ridiculous.

If you had them match the back, it's closer to 20%, not 35%. It's a pretty big difference in darkness.

How do you like the sunroof? My wife likes to drive with the shade open, so doing the sunroof might be a good idea!
