If you have tinted you 2011 JGC windows, what % did you go with and how does it match the rear windows? Also has anybody put an eyebrow on and did it effect the auto high/low beams?

awesome...i was wondering about how dark would match the rear! thanks for your input.

Here are three pictures of the tinted windows. It is also hard to detect but I also had a clear bra put on it as well.

Looks like you didn't tint the windshield... The sides look like a perfect match! Congrats!

Nevertheless, just wondering if anybody did the front windows + the windshield and what %... Tinting the windshield will make the side windows look darker.. Maybe 15% front + tinted windshield might come out slightly darker than factory..

That looks great!! What do you think about an eyebrow. I've had them on my last 3 trucks and like the look, but I'm not sure how it will effect the auto high/low??

I just had ours done. Im not sure what % but the shop that did it looked at it and then just grabbed the tint... It matched perfectly. So I would assume any competent shop should be able to chose it correctly for you... thats what they do for a living.

Our windshild BROW comes flush with the factory "SPECKLE" tint behind the rearview...

It looks great but on a sunny day you can still see into the Jeep... I personaly tint for security reasons more than anything else... of course it keeping the vehicle cooler is a bonus... I may get the windows done darker in the future... the factory tint is just a shade to light in my opinion.

30 percent ceramic all around (not windshield) over the factory it looks great. There are pictures out there somewhere from when I first took it home.

They have worked fine so far. I do live in Puerto Rico where the sun is pretty strong. I must admit though that I haven't really paid attention to this during sun down as I only get to enjoy those on the weekends. I will keep you posted.

As far as tint %s I am have to agree with jonnyg, 15% is a correct match regardless of whether you tint the windshield or not.

I had my front windows tinted locally at D&L Window Tinting.

I have the 3M Film, which comes in 35% (darkest legal in MD), 20% & 5%. I went with 20%, looks great, perfect match and when I roll back the sunshade enough light comes through incase I get stopped (ticketable offense in MD and consodering I am checked into work by MPs each morning thats a good thing). Cost = $129+tax.

Windshield is not tinted (illegal in MD) but I do have a 7" inch visor strip that is 5%. Cost = Free (I had a coupon from the internet)

I didn't spring for the clear 3M bra (its on the wife's R350 - $800 for 24" onto hood, didn't price out he JGC) as I am rarely on the highway, mostly country roads for me. But I did get clear 3M inserts inside the door handles. Cost = $20 for all four.

I'd post pics but I don't have any and its too dark when I leave work. Maybe this weekend.

Mhassler,

I'm not far from you in Mont. Co. and want to get 20% too. Just for clarity since 35% is the darkest legal in MD, isn't 20% illegal since the % is the amount of light allowed to pass through the glass. Just making sure I understand what the % means and don't have it backwards. If I understand correctly is sounds like the WK2 tint is illegal in MD from the factory. This won't stop me from tinting just curious .

Has the visor strip affected your auto high/low sensor?

Here is a picture I photoshopped of user Nbtstatics' Dark Charcoal Overland (best color available) ;-) I added front matching window tints just to get an idea of how it would look. Looks amazing!!!
The tinter I use prefers Llumar films and as mentioned 15-20% is what matches OEM the closest.

Hehehe, anything else you want me to photoshop? :D Actually to be honest I would not do a single thing else to that car. That front window tint on that dark charcoal looks 100% perfect as is. It is soo clean doing anything else would just look sort of tacky. Man did Jeep really nail it on the head with this new Grand Cherokee.

Yeah thanks for the info and the photoshop tint looks awesome. One more question on this:

Do the cold temperatures have an effect on getting it done now versus waiting till spring?

I live in Connecticut and my WK2 is stored in the garage at night. Thanks again for the input.

hi there! I am getting my front windows tinted next weekend. Guy i am working with suggested 20% to match the rest.
In past cars i have had tinted the guy pulled the door panels off to do the job....is this necessary in the 2011 Cherokee or ok to just pull up the rubber seal?
