It more or less say's something about backward engineering, when vent windows used to come standard on every vehicle. And now if you want something remotely like them, to be able to use without getting rain in your car, you have to glue them on.

Ha,Ha,that is funny.I guess you could say that about a manual transmission. If you want something remotely like them, you have to push a paddle on the steering wheel. It's just not the same,is it?

No. But at least there is no glue involved.

Eh, no....

The paddles hide nicely out of sight for those that don't use them, but are handy for those that do. In fact, for the few times I want the flexibility of shifting manually, I've come to prefer them over the old clutch and hand shifter combo. Paddles are far better for engine-braking stops when it's slippery since you don't have to remove power before jumping up to higher RPMs.

I drove manuals for over 20 years and I don't miss them one bit with the paddles.

Likewise, with automatic climate controls with built in air filtration, I don't miss riding with my windows open, either.
