My mistake - I knew it was one of the two, just had it mixed up.

I don't believe that the aftermarket glass is as good. I don't know about now but a couple years ago when I had my windshield replaced on my first wk2 they could only get OEM so it wasn't an issue. I will find out soon though because my glass is cracked up the passenger side of the windshield on my 2014.
Thanks for the info - I'll start with a dealer and see what they say. If they are unable to do the replacement, hopefully they will at least have a recommendation.

Re: Windshield Replacement

Let me know how you make out. I just found a decent crack in my windshield from a stone smash yesterday. I was too scared to look yesterday - I've had my '15 summit for a week and was ready to cry!!! haha

I'm taking it back to the dealer Monday to have them look at it. Hoping it can be replaced. It was perfect for a week atleast...

Re: Windshield Replacement

I just had my glass replaced by satellite. I got the OEM, the only problem is noise at 65/70. the cover by the wipers was not napped in place correctly also they bent the clip. I think I need a new rubber cover which cost $200. The original was tight and after replacing the glass its does not seal very good.

Call them back. If they bend or brake something replacing your glass they usually fix it for free even if that means buying the OEM part from Jeep. They broke trim clips on a honda we have and ended up buying replacements from Honda and came back free of charge to replace them when they did our windshield.

Re: Windshield Replacement

I don't know. I think it might be easier to fix a ding in the paint.

Safelight called today and said they just has a alert from the company talking about the problem with the jeep and Durango windshield Cover part number 55079197AH. The only way to stop the buzzing is to replace this part. Safelight has order me a new OEM part.

I found out when they change out the brake booster, this part should be replace.

I understand Chrysler is working on a fix or replacement for this problem.

You are correct! I replaced mine (Canada) and it was about $700. OEM glass only and don't settle for anything else! Good luck!

Re: Windshield Replacement

Joining the cracked glass group =(. Have a 2014, was curious about the 2015 windsheild with the acoustic coating. MOPAR listed 3 windsheilds for the 2014, and 4 of them for the 2015. $600-$692. the $692 was a new one on the 2015s.

Anyone have any experience putting the 2015 on a 2014? Can it be done?

Re: Windshield Replacement

Besides the rain sensor and acoustic properties, I'd insist on OEM glass regardless of the make/model. From my experience, OEM glass is much nicer than cheap aftermarket glass. It tends to stay perfectly smooth longer. I've had aftermarket get peppered by sand and small objects and when you have the sun shining in it you can see everything sparkle on a clean windshield. Very annoying. OEM lasts much much longer.

Fitment is critical. Insist on OEM.
