Re: WK2 front license plate

My plate was also screwed to the bumper without any bracket. After seeing the part number on JG I decided I would order one. Dealer said the price was $25.30 – I bit high considering the cheap b@st@rds should have installed one initially before the vehicle was delivered. Dealer agreed to charge $19.95. When I went to pick it up I noticed some recently delivered GCs had the bracket already installed. WTH?! In any case the bracket is installed.

I used stainless screws on the top of the bracket and, for the time being, left the bottoms undrilled. I also used a couple of stainless screws to attach the license plate to the bracket. I bought the shortest ones I could find (ACE, Lowe’s, etc) and ground the pointed tips off so the top license plate screws do not go into my bumper or rub up against it. It is not as secure as using the 6 screws, but I am not planning on towing anything with my front license plate.

Re: WK2 front license plate

I ordered and installed the front license plate kit today. Mine is 1 year old so no bracket came with it but after seeing the 2012's with form fitting brackets, I had to have one.
The bracket is screwed to the bumper with 4 screws (upper 2 matched previous holes) and now the plate can also be attached with 4 screws. The whole unit is now so secure.
