No flares, though I should throw some in. I do have a first aid kit, some tools, toilet paper (comes in handy a lot), paper towels, and the all important heavy duty jumper cables.

I found that many people who try to jump cars use the black, thin cables that were really cheap. They try and try and try to start a car but it never works. I bring out my heavy duty yellow jumper cables and bam, car starts the first time. They're always amazed.

I have what you have, except the TP. Also empty water bottle, hand tools, wire, tape, hitch shackle and recovery strap, towel, gloves, cargo straps, plastic tarp, flashlight, sunglasses.

Re: WK2 Junk in the trunk: version 2.0 - interior storage compatments

I do mostly short trips but when long trips occur, I haven't thought to put more stuff with the spare. In the center console I have all sorts of stuff.
I always have the SOG Pentagon, a can of bear repellent, plenty of shops towels of microfiber. In Summer I have bug repellent and this small solar powered/hand cranked all band radio which also has a USB port for recharging a phone or tablet. Always keep a Surefie LED with swivel head and multiple colored light (white, red, blue for blood trails and bodily fluids, a must when staying in motels). In the back side buckets I keep a few pairs of gloves, a channel lock pliers, screw drivers. In Winters I have a sturdy blanket and silk sleeping bag insert and ultra small backpacking sleeping bag. A SOG folding shovel (entrenching tool,) and usually I have the dog in the very back but sometimes you need a bigger shovel, bag of powdered lime, as I do live in NY. On trips I usually have a six pack box that holds wine bottles, a few sturdy plastic cups, some portable food source like Trader Joe's nuts or a trail mix. A small first aid kit. Flares but need better ones and I think I bought the emergency triangles for under the floor. I need to go explore the spare area more. I bought the 2011 WK2 used and it might have some donut type spare with foam cover. I never really bothered to check the size. I run with 18" wheels, so whatever will be sufficient for a few miles but unless going off-road I would call a flat bed tow truck. I think I also have a small can of ether based starter spray. A bunch of zip ties. Again in NY they can serve many uses. I need to buy a spare fuse kit which is now on my list.

Like the dad from "Clueless," said to would be boy interested in teen daughter " I have a .45, a shovel and a bag of lime and nobody will miss you.
I'm not to that point yet, but as an Eagle Scout and US Army veteran I try to be prepared. Oh yes I do have a few bunches of 10' sections of Kevlar twine.

I'm too old for much more. Maybe dog treats, but keep them up front just like spare batteries. GOK what the redbone coonhound would nibble on if he has access to it and gets bored.

I'll go first -

Wheel chocks, extra oil, emergency blanket, first aid kit, gloves, rags, hazard triangle, light sticks, extra fuses, random tools, old, well used road atlas.

Interesting bonus - the empty left compartment on the styrofoam jack storage assembly fits two orion 15 minute's perfectly. I'm guessing this area is for the required hazard triangle in Europe.
LOL, that's a lot of stuff.
I keep a 'real' lug wrench (since I have Mcguard wheel locks of a different socket size); a couple flash lights (one has a crank to charge it); some gloves for changing a tire in case I'm dressed nice; locks for trailering; a cargo net from another vehicle that fits across the back of the jeep; my 5.25" drop trailer hitch; couple towels; emergency blanket (the foil type); fire extinguisher; and some other misc crap I can't remember....

First aid kit is in the driver's door, along with another flashlight.
Napkins in the passenger door.
Yet another flashlight in the glove box, along with some of those hand wipes they give you at restaurants, and a cheap digital camera.

I have a revolving amber emergency light, a couple knives, and an LED 'road flare' in the center console.
Thinking about jerry-rigging some LED flashers into the emergency light as I think they would get more attention (brighter).

Oil?
Never felt the need to carry any spare oil. My V6 doesn't use oil between my 8K oil changes.

No oil for me either. The Pentastar V6 has yet to burn any oil at about 54K miles.

...side recess?
Not if you have the sub-woofer.

Oh, and I keep a LiIon jump pack under the driver's seat.
Great little devices. Much smaller/lighter than a conventional jump pack and you don't have to worry about screwing up your vehicle to jump start someone else's vehicle (or trying to line up your vehicles).

Booties...the ones from 'work' that are made of Tyvek@....in case a guy has to do anything like change a tire in dress shoes on a messy road.

Just a thought - it might make more sense to keep the fluids in the removable containers at the front, just in case of a leak. I keep some oil, coolant and DEF there myself.

For me, I gotta admit... my interior storage isn't that pretty but messy... I always keep on telling myself to organize it up like asap... but 1.5 years ha! I always leave 50 ft extension plugs, legit flashlight, hammer, wrenches, small green tool box that has bunch of tools, swiss knifes, small ropes and gloves.
