Mopar bars.

The top of the bars are about 3.5" above the roof.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

I decided to stay with Thule, primarily because they offer a better mount for hauling a canoe. The racks that mount of the rails would move the balance point too far back. Don't particularly like how they mount, but they are strong and all I need buy are the feet and fit kit.

I already have Thule racks as well but I have the new Aero Bars and absolutely hate the look of having the fit kit attaching to the body of the vehicle. Even if my kayak is hanging off the back of the vehicle I will be fine with it.

But if I can get the Front Runner and mount my kayak mounts on it that should bring them forward or at least in between the stock location and the Thule to the door location.

I just hate the mounts that attach them selves onto the body of the vehicle. I don't like things touching my paint.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

That is how I felt, but since they will only be on when I'm hauling the boat I'm not concerned, more concerned with how much hangs off the rear. The canoe is 16'. Personally I think any rack detracts from the looks.

That looks like it should be enough space. Are you gonna be the guinea pig? I think the price of the ladder is actually really acceptable as I believe the website said that included shipping?

I don't think I will be this time, as I just bought an awning for the rack and I need to pace myself. Do you know how easy it is to remove the ladder? I would probably want to take it off for winter around here (I live in the northeast).

As I don't even have the vehicle yet I don't know. I have looked at the Gobi site and can't seem to find any instructions and have not yet reached out to them. It does say that there are no holes to be drilled and it mounts to factory locations. So, I would think it wouldn't be super difficult, you would just have to take apart the plastic shroud to get to bolts maybe?

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Guys, confused about Thule's website and the comments in this thread! I put in all the details on my vehicle and it appears that I can get all the hardware needed for the Aeroblades and still have the fit kit that mounts to the rails and not clip to the roof/door jams.

This is what I was about to order:

KIT1656 For 480 and 480R Foot Packs only
Part #: KIT1656
Qty: 1
CAD$ 109.99

Thule Rapid Traverse Foot Pack 480R
Part #: 480R
Qty: 1
CAD$ 239.99

Thule Aeroblade Load Bar Pair ARB60
Part #: ARB60
Qty: 1
CAD$ 219.99

Thule 4-Pack Lock Cylinder 544
Part #: 544
Qty: 1
CAD$ 74.99

Will this not work??

That foot kit will not mate to the roof rails. Nothing will. Here is a link to the fit kit you are looking at.

Tomk:

Are those the $150 bars off Amazon? Is there a track down the middle of them?

They are the Mopar bars (82212072AC) from justforjeeps. There is a rubber strip down the middle (which you have to install).

I'll probably be taking them off very soon, I'll take more pix.
