Update:

I installed the bars I bought from the link on Amazon (see above). With the help of the directions offered by countless folks in the reviews, I had these on the roof in 15 mins. I have used them twice with kayak and they are great. Very quiet and they look great too! Could not be happier!

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Anyone have the Rhino Vortex RSP? Looking for some feedback. I like the non-through bar style with black rails and T-bar compatibility. I also like that it's $200 cheaper than Whispbar. My only issue is that it's a static mount and cannot adjust forward or backward, and it's hassle to take on and off. Open for suggestions otherwise. Thanks.

Use case:
Occasional lumber (a few 2x4's here and there)
Luggage holder for travel
Paddle Boards

I have the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform which uses the same mount point. I leave those mounts on the Jeep at all times - I think it looks great and, more importantly, the wife thinks it looks great.

This means I can simply rest the tray up there and do up the four bolts.

In your case it would mean simply resting the two rails up there and doing up the four bolts.

Here is a photo I just took to show what it looks like to have the mounts left on there...

No worries at all, here is one I took during my original install - so ignore the blanket I had there for safety reasons...

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Correction I had taken a photo since then, I just hadn't filed it correctly...

This picture better shows the single bolt going into the Rhino roof mount... I keep the legs bolted to the tray so that I can simply lower the tray onto the roof mounts, put the single bolt into all four legs, and I'm done.

Tillsy that is a nice rack there, the Rhino Pioneer. Thanks for the good, detailed pictures.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

I was driving near Denver the other week and stopped in to visit Gobi Racks in Aurora CO.

http://www.gobiracks.com/racks.cfm?ID=33

They make great racks, very strong. They had a Yellow Hummer with their large Ranger Rack, and a smaller green car with their lower-profile Stealth Rack. Both belonged to employees. They let me push and pull on them, and that rocked the cars a bit. Solid, very strong. The Stealth Rack lays low and tight against the roof, for anyone with clearance concerns.

They build to order. They are not a mass production shop. If you order, I think she said the wait time is 8 weeks. They are quality products. They don't have a store, either. The receptionist was kind enough to explain and show me the two employee vehicles.

I like that their racks are curved to follow a rig's curved roof, like our WK2s have. If a roof line is flat then their rack is flat. It makes for a clean, custom-looking fit. I came away quite impressed. I am still searching carefully for my rack.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Oh, and Gobi can put a sunroof space in their racks if you want one.

If anyone is interested, I just installed my Inno Carbon Shadow cargo box on top of my Whispbars (throughbar).
