WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

I'm looking for a rack for my 2014 JGC CRD Overland and want to identify the main manufacturers - hopefully to see the entire selection, or most of them anyway.

From these four threads,

— Best roof rack for 2014 cherokee (Best roof rack for 2014 cherokee), and
— 14' Cross-Bar Discussion (14' Cross-Bar Discussion), and
— Thule AeroBlades - Pics (Thule AeroBlades - Pics), and
— Thule cross bars (Thule cross bars), ...

..., I searched a little and found the 12 manufacturers below, 11 of which have rack systems for the WK2. Are there any others?

— DiamondRax: Roof Racks - DiamondRax - Con-ferr Style

— Garvin: Garvin Wilderness Racks

— Gobi: Gobi Jeep

— Inno: inno (RV-Inno) /ADVANCED CAR RACKS,

— Mopar: *Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport Utility Bars (Part No: 82212072AC)

— Rhino: Rhino RackΒ*USA | Car Roof Racks, Cargo Trays, Ski & Bike Racks

— Rocky Road: Jeep Grand Cherokee Roof Rack:Β*2011+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Roof Rack

— ROLA: ROLA Roof Racks

— Saris: Saris (currently no rack for WK2)

— Thule: Bring your life: Racks and Carriers for Bikes Skis Kayaks Canoes Surfboards - Roof racks - Roof boxes – Bags and Cases for Travel Laptops Cameras Tablets Smartphones – Bike Bags and Racks – Snow Chains – Camping - Thule

— TracRac: Homepage | TracRac

— Yakima: Yakima | Car Racks

What other racks are available for the WK2?

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Great list, thanks for putting this together.

One comment, Thule has discontinued their fit kit that will mount the Aeroblade to the bright side rails on many of the Jeep models. They only offer a system that will clamp to the roof/door frame instead.

It seems that Mopar is still offering their system that connects to the bright side rails, which is supposed to be a rebadged Thule Aeroblade system. Mopar part number is 82212072AC.

Justforjeeps offers a great price on both the Mopar system and Thule system. I haven't found the Thule system cheaper elsewhere, but happened to find Mopar system slightly cheaper on Amazon.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

I had been looking for a good substitute for the recently discontinued Thule Podium 460/R 4019 Fit Kit which utilizes the factory flush rails. Found Inno now makes a similar kit, IN-TR... placed my order last week.

Thanks to OP for putting this list together!

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Rhino Rack makes a darn cool setup for factory roof rails too. Same bolt mounting as the RRO for FULL & secure weight capabilities over the discontinued Thule rail attachment. Plus the Rhino has Thule compatable "T" slot aero bars. (They also have a system for over the door if desired, but was told both are 150lb rated so why not just use the factory rails?) The mounting feet in the linked kit below can be used for their Pioneer tray (remove crossbars) so no need for extra mounting equipment if you want the expandability. I spoke to the distributor here in Denver and was told the roof rail mounting screws are custom & special made and will ONLY work with their special tool, not the "safety torx" some have mentioned in the forums. So no locks for the rail mount, but special heads as a theft deterrent.

Here is a link to a guy in Australia who mounted the platform only to the rails (The rep told me they are phasing out the silver trays): BMackin WK2 Build & Adventure - Page 3 - AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM - AJOR

And here is someone who ordered the silver cross member setup in silver with their part numbers: Bars for Flush Roof Rails - Page 6 - JeepForum.com

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Can anyone tell me which racks are the lowest profile (i.e. height off the top of the jeep?)

I have a low clearance garage, and would like to be able to run my ski racks but am concerned that ski racks on top of these would be WAY to tall.

TIA from a new member.

The Inno IN-TR sits low, only about 2.5" above the factory side rails. On my 14, the back crossbar sits pretty much flush with the shark-fin antenna.

My cargo box drops down in the back and I had to fabricate a spacer for the rear crossbar in order to clear the antenna.

Thanks for pointing to your thread and pictures. That does look nice and low.

One comment about your Inno fairing is that, over time, the bugs and the sun's UV rays will eventually age the looks of it and it'll start to look a little ratty. You may consider mounting it on the rear bar instead - there it will serve its function of quieting the air at highway speeds (without the fairing you can get a standing wave causing a humming noise). Mounted on the rear bar, if it starts to look ratty it'll be less noticeable.

It definitely looks great, though. Nice rig there.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

I talked to these guys on the phone today, Roof Racks & Expedition Roof Racks | Front Runner Outfitters

They have a Slim Line II rack for the WK2 now that just came in from their South African headquarters. They haven't field tested it on a USA JCG, but don't anticipate any problems. I'm not ready to guinea pig it for them, but it might be worth adding to the list.

Right now I'm trying to decide between the Slim Line II from FrontRunner or the Gobi Stealth.

Re: WK2 Rack Systems: Manufacturers List

Ech7Tango, thanks for the list! Awesome.

I am leaning the Rola or Gobi way; like the low profile of both. The question I have on the Gobi is do you have to remove the OEM rails and or drill into the roof? Looks like there is 6-anchor points for that roof rack; or am I mistaken?

My other concern is around the sunroof and and panel on my GC Overland yet it sounds like the sunroof will open fully and also not hinder vent mode; is that correct?
