OverlandExpress,

That's exactly why I recommended wrapping a couple layers of electrical tape around that connection. Not only will it seal it, but hold them together as well.
As far as the screws and collars and the bulb adapters, you have to remember they designed these kits to work on almost any car. If you wanted a different design that plugs specifically into a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee then they would be even more expensive and very limited on what vehicles they can work with as each car has its own connectors. It just wouldn't be feasible. I think how VLED's did it is great.
For what it's worth I have had V3 kits in all my vehicles now for years since they first came out with the Gen 1 kit and they have all been great and without issues.
Sorry you are not happy with the kit, I personally find it to be great and without a doubt the highest quality plug and play LED system you can buy, and certainly the only aftermarket LED bulb worth using as exterior bulbs.

The distance from the stock bulb gasket to the bulb filament was about 1.25 inches, for those that were curious.

Just finished installing, very happy with results. Color is brighter, deeper red than stock which side-by-side looks dimmer and red with a tint of orange. You also get the instant on/off effect of LEDs. I would suggest checking the polarity of the 3157 adapter before buttoning everything back up. Attaching the small control module on the underside of light assembly made it more difficult to put the entire assembly back on the car. Instead I stuffed the control module under the bumper along with the big stock bulb harness.

I also installed a VLED 5K LED reverse bulb in the lower section. Now for a cold beer.

I noticed on my drive to work this morning how bright the brake lights are now. I've always noticed the front turn signals can light up reflective street signs and such for quite a distance. This morning the rear turn signals were lighting up peoples license plates and overhead reflective signs on the freeway commute.

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

Glad you guys are all mostly happy with the final product and results. Yeah these compliment the front stock LED turn signals nicely. I always love driving at night and seeing those Amber LED signals light up signs a 1/4 mile ahead lol. Now the tail lights do the same. I have no doubt these add atleast some margin of safety as they color is deeper, brighter, and the instant on/off is just eye catching.
When I'm driving behind a stock WK2 I can't help but notice how weak and dull looking the stock rear brake and turn signals are.

Also, for you non '14+ guys or all WK2's that don't have the OEM front LED signals, consider getting the amber V3 Tritons for the front which are just as brilliant as the reds. I have had amber signals on other cars and they are amazing as well. I haven't personally seen them fitted on a WK2 so I'm unsure of fitment, but might be worth a looksy.

Agreed on this, I installed mine yesterday and was scratching my head at how long those bulb socket adapters were going to stay attached. Off to the hardware store, where I picked up some 1" heat shrink and some silicone wrap tape. I tore it all back apart this morning to resolve the issue.

The 1" shrink will not fit over the whole chain of sockets and adapters, but I was able to cut a shorter piece and at least get it over the bulb socket ring and the adapter which is the only open connection, so I was satisfied. I then wrapped the whole mess in silicone tape to further hold it all together and weatherproof it before shoving it back down under the bumper.

Other than the install headaches, the V3 Tritons are legit. Did anybody spring for the weatherproofing extras from VLED? Just curious if they provide larger diameter heat shink? The largest I could find was 1" without going to super heavy duty stuff which would likely need a real heat gun to cure.

I bought the weather proofing from VLED...and yes they provided sufficiently large heat shrink. I think it was only a couple bucks extra so I figured even if I didn't use it no big deal.

Also I have a heat gun which is how I got it tight enough.

Good to know, I'd highly recommend springing for that for anyone who has yet to order. Just to save the trouble of going on another parts run.

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

Just a heads up for anyone who's bought the kit and hasn't installed yet. Installed one side tonight. Went fairly well except the routing and stuffing of wires and connections as many have mentioned. Started the next side and the ring that is used for holding the gasket down was different. Only had 2 holes and only 1 of those would match up at a time with the holes in the LED. Just thought I'd mention it so maybe you can catch it before you start if yours is the same. I'll probably send an email tonight and hopefully they'll ship the correct one soon. So if you see someone with one LED on the drivers side that's me.
