Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

I finally installed my Triton V3s today. I took a slightly different approach and pulled the bumper for the install. Keep in mind, if you go this route, you will need to buy four new plastic rivets and they are $6.20 a piece at the dealership. I got lucky with my dealership and they gave them to me for $1.00 each because they thought that the original price was ridiculous for those rivets.

I used double sided tape to mount the controller and the resistor to the body of the car directly below the tail light under the bumper. I did this mainly because now I can still pull the whole tail light without having to unscrew the bumper to get the huge connector out. Picture of my install is attached. I didn't get any pictures of the them lit up but there are enough of those pictures in this thread as it is.

As far as impressions go, they are very bright. Much brighter than I anticipated. The LEDs overall look better than the regular bulbs too.

Sorry for the quality of the photo but I was racing daylight to finish the install and didn't want to run inside to grab a normal camera.

That's the best looking install right there! I taped the resister to the angled piece of metal with the dimples going inward, below yours. My controller just hangs admittedly. With all the wiring included though, and the existing wiring in place, it doesn't seem too loose to me to worry about it.

Great looking install Roman!!!
Hey just an FYI on those plastic rivets....never buy them from a dealer it's downright ridiculous the price they charge per rivet. For future reference eBay is the way to go. I purchased a bundle of 25 of them for 5 bucks shipped!! OEM as well!

Noted on the rivets, just ordered some on ebay. I didn't have any other choice but to go to the dealer when I decided to do the install. This won't me the last time that I am pulling the bumper so I might as well get more rivets. Next time I pull the bumper will be to install the rear fogs which will also have a set of V3s. I already have the housings and bulbs, just need to decide how I want them to behave.

I think most people did the install without taking the bumper off. It just seemed easier to pull the bumper off for me.

Pulling the bumper is only a 5 minute process. I wanted to have better access to the area underneath the taillight to secure the controller and resistor.

5 min? Have some directions on that? I couldn't figure it out just by fooling around with it, didn't have service manual.

I'll type up some directions when I get home from work. Keep in mind that you will need four new plastic rivets and a rivet gun when putting the bumper back on.
