I do have one question though, were your resistors leaking black sand all over the packaging when you got them? Mine were...all the boxes in the main box were coated in it. The sand was coming from the spot where the wires entered the resistor, on both of them. If I turned them with the wires facing down, it would pour out in a fine stream. I decided to just seal them up with some spray adhesive and use them anyway. So far so good.

Anyway, thanks again for figuring out the best LED brake light option so I wouldn't have to.

I had this problem, the resistors were falling apart internally. I contacted VLED and they sent out new ones for free. They also said they hadn't seen this before..... anyway I would get new ones if I were you. You don't want the resistors overheating because the internals fell out.

i didn't see an answer to this one. seems there are a couple people in this thread that have mentioned doing VLEDs in the reverse lights, what did you do?

this is next on my list, i think. going to have a shop tint the taillights, might as well do this while the housings are out.

one question, has anyone done anything with the 3rd brake light on the spoiler? does it look wierd/bother you that it's different from the other lights now?

thanks to all who have braved the way so others can follow. looking at you, james.

When you say VLEDs in the reverse, I can only assume you mean the V3 Tritons? If thats the case... No way! I HIGHLY doubt you will be able to fit another large V3 Triton behind the housings. Its tight enough just getting things closed up with just the brake one in there. Not to mention you will still have the extra modules and wires requiring install and mount. When there are simple plug and play solutions like the Putco Plasma bulbs that put out an incredible amount of light, it just doesn't make sense to go with another VLED system for reverse. Oh, and thats just the outer housings. VLED V3 will not fit in a 921 bulb opening which is what the liftgate reverse bulbs are. Save yourself a lot of time, money, and effort and keep it simple. I LOVE my Putco reverse bulbs!

As far as the third brake light, why would that look weird to you or out of place? Its already LED! So if anything it was weird BEFORE installing the V3 Tritons as the third brake light is LED and the brake/turn bulbs were not. Now its all consistent and all LED, perfect match!

Vled over putco and Phillips for reverse seems like a waste of money if you ask me. My reverse lights are already blinding bright.

Exactly! It would be so expensive and time consuming that even the thought of doing that is kind of silly lol. Plus, its all for a light that is on maybe for 10 seconds a day and you never even see them. I actually felt kind of guilty spending $100 on my Putco reverse bulbs because they are used so minimally and I will never once get to even see them for myself haha.

having my tail lights & reflectors tinted today at a customs place. while he's doing that, i'm having him install the tritons. james, i printed off your second install with pics to show him. i hate having someone else do this, but i've seen his work and can't fit in another project right now so screw it. will keep you posted how this turns out, heh.

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

picked up the car. tinted tails - check. reverse bulbs, tailgate & body - check. tritons? nope. seems they included two bags of 3mm screws and ONE bag of 4mm screws. appears the 4mm screws are the ones that actually hold the bulb in place. so, had everything apart, couldn't install them because - screws. bummer. guess now i get to go find some matching screws and do this myself after all. an hour or two i can put together. i'll give it a shot this weekend i hope.
