That's exactly correct. The warranty department needs a before and after photo of it destroyed. They even tell you to cut it that exact point.

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

Hey guys I just wanted to bump this thread up and mention a new product I tried that I can honestly say can compete with the V3 Tritons. I have been tinkering with LED setups in my wife's car and finally found another bulb worth mentioning. The Acme 7443/1157/3157 bulbs from the retrofit source. These things are very well made and are extremely bright. I would say they are literally on par with the V3 Tritons which I was not expecting. What's awesome about these is they are from what I can tell nearly as bright if not as bright as the Tritons, but without all the wiring and modules. Yes you will need a resistor to stop your indicator from hyper flashing, but every car needs that.
These are absolutely worth a looksy! Also, I tried the Morimoto XB LEDs and they are terrible!! Nice quality looking bulb that has very bright output, but the design of the lens reflect NO light back into the housing at all, making them almost useless.

Here is a link to the Acme 3157 bulbs from TRS:
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/le...l#.V0rmhfQ8KnM

Oh yeah, did I mention they cost 20-30 bucks?

Here are some pics I took of my bulbs for my wife's car (red for brake and white for reverse). I don't have output shots yet, but believe me when I say they are BRIGHT!!!

None. My Jeep still has the Tritons, and in my wife's application I did not need a resistor as it was for the brake only application. Her car has a separate turn signal bulb. So if/when I change those to LEDs then I will obviously need a resistor, but I'm not there yet.
If I add LED turn signals to her car my plan was to buy the Tritons for the front park/turn signal and use their 3ohm resistor which will handle resistance for two bulbs per side, then I can add the rear Acme LED signal bulb.

I bought these for my 2012 GC.
Great product!

I ended up spending almost $60.
$30 + shipping for the Acme Red Rocket LEDs
$23 for a Curt trailer plug-n-play wire harness (no cutting OEM wires).
$5 for a pair of ballast resistors on Amazon

I cut the trailer harness into two harnesses (1 for each side) and soldered the ballast resistors on the ends of the wires, then took off the tail lights and dropped the resistor down in the gap between the body and tail plastic and bolted them to a pinch weld right in front of the hitch.

The brake/turn didn't work at first, I had to pull the bulbs back out and bend the socket outer bulb contacts out a little to make contact with the LED bulb.

I ordered some Philips 3157 red leds for the rear turns for $17 shipped and picked up some 25W resistors at Walmart for $8. Works perfect and they are plenty bright.

There are no bulbs in the tail gate, just the LED light ring.

Guess that depends on the YEAR of your Grand Cherokee....

The 2011-2013 models have a W3W bulb in the tailgate light section (besides the 921 backup bulb).

I ordered and installed these:
http://www.amazon.com/LUYED-Lumens-S...dp/B01DZPW5RC/

They look great with the Acme RedRocket LED bulbs!

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

Just wanted to bump this thread. Yesterday my drivers side turn signal/stop light ceased to work. Opened up the twilight and as soon as I started messing with it the bulb started flashing so somewhere the harness has an issue.

I put the original keep bulb back in and everything works fine.

The VLed harness has a short somewhere. It's been less than a year and already crapped on me.

Any advice?
