Yeah im not sure what kit you have, if its one of the earlier Gen kits I cant recall if they came with several different size gaskets or not, but the more recent ones come with several different thicknesses and you have to use the one that almost makes it difficult to rotate the bulb in the socket. So either you just didnt have the right thickness gasket, or something else was wrong. I have had several sets of V3 Tritons starting from one of the very first Gen 1 kits to 2 and now 2.5. I have used them in about 5 different cars now and no sealing issues whatsoever in any of them. Its a quality kit when installed correctly.

I didnt take a picture of the resistor unfortunately, but its a high quality piece. Its pretty thin and can easily be mounted anywhere. Yes the one connector goes to the 3157 adapter which then plugs into your original bulb socket, and the other connector plugs into the resistor (if applicable). Again, VERY easy to install and very straight forward, For the most part, if you can change a automotive light bulb, you can install a V3 Triton LED kit...atleast in most vehicles. Some tend to be more difficult, but as far as the WK2 is concerned, its straight forward.

I've read a few cases where LED resistors melted through the plastic tail lamp assy. I think in one case the adhesive failed and then the resistor fell/ended up on top of the plastic tail light housing (which melted). In another case, a person mounted the resistor directly on the plastic instead of on the vehicle body metal, thus resulting in melting through.

Do these specific resistors run cool to the touch and therefore may be mounted literally "anywhere", or was that a figure of speech?

I mounted my resistors up under the bumper cover to a metal piece to be safe.

Not sure on if they run cool or not. It was more or less a figure of speech. I have mine mounted under the tail light housing between the bumper and body. I used 3m double sided tape and mounted it on a metal section of the vehicles body behind the bumper. It's a nice clean, flat, wide open location that should be perfect for a load resistor. If the double sided tape gave out it would simply dangle by the wire harness and cause no damage.

It's been a little over a month for back order on the Tritons now, waiting impatiently lol.

You can give them a call and see if they have any sort of ETA for you.

Finally put my order in after lots of reading and looking at pictures. Thanks to everybody that posted. The resistors are still on back order, so like others have said just forget about the order you placed, and someday it will just show up. Nice to know I just needed two bulbs, and two resistors to make it work. I never heard anybody talk about the controller however, but it is included with the package so I assume it's needed. Will post up after they come in, and are installed!

Yes it's all included. You will have everything needed to do the install. The controller box is small on the newer gen 2.5's. I mounted mine in the actual housing as seen on my pics in this thread. The resistor is flat, but will need to mount under the light behind the bumper. It's easy to reach in there and mount. You will see a good area once you look in there.

Not to hijack the thread, but a good way to get rid of water in the lens is to flush it out 3 or 4 times with alcohol, then leave it in the sun a bit to let the residual alcohol evaporate from the housing.

Re: WK2 rear brake turn LED's installed. VLED V3 Triton with pics

Just an FYI guys I have a RED Gen 2 kit available for those that don't want to wait for the back ordered Gen 2.5 kits. Whats good about the Gen 2 kit is the resistors are BUILT in. No separate resistor required (which BTW is also back ordered).
I can do $90 shipped for the the kit. Only thing is mine have the 7440 series bulb base adapters since these were in my wife's 2014 Toyota Highlander and not the Jeep. The base adapters are readily available from VLED's for like $10 bucks.
$90 shipped and I can ship priority same day I receive payment! Cant beat this deal!
I also have an amber kit available which I think will work for any 11-13 WK2, and 14+ WK2's without HID's. Still your responsibility to verify which bulb adapters they use though.

Disregard the above, both sets have already sold to someone on the Acura forums that I also frequent.

Thanks
