You'll likely need to drive a threaded spline into the wood. No idea where you'd find a suitable spline.

Would it be possible for someone to post a pic of this wooden shift knob everyone is talking about.
For some reason none of the links (except for the Phantom Briarwood) are working.

I'd go for an upgraded shift knob.

Doesn't anyone here know someone with a CNC machine that can carve us the top half of the knob, or maybe the whole thing then we can stain or clear coat them ourselve and tranfer the leather?

I haven't confirmed but I suspect the leather covered shift knobs in the Laredo X, Limited, Overland/Summit are already two peices.
