i know you are trying to be helpful but the NEW GLUE that is clear seems almost impossible to soften. NO ONE has succesffully opened up a set of the OEM yet. there have been attempts for sure but no success that I have seen/ could be user error IDK.

once there are aftermarket lights all that might be possible.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

Tony -- that almost sounds like you swapped in just the HID assembly into the stock halogen housings? Can you confirm and maybe provide some images?

My original question was more along the lines of if anyone has put the ENTIRE headlight assembly from a limited (or above) into a Laredo - not modifying the existing headlights.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

and someone answered. it is fine using an aftermarket HID kit. DEALER said trouble with OEM ignitor.

opening them is a much more cost effective idea hence sharing it/ if its possible.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

i'm not sure if i understand - someone already answered my question? I certainly missed that.

I am not interested in installing aftermarket lighting (nor cost effectiveness) - i want OEM headlights from a limited.

I did answer your question basically in my long response haha, from my understanding and what I was told from the dealer mechanics. Putting the Xenon headlamp in your limited, it has smaller gauge wire from the factory and for the amount of current that will be pulled through the wires with the xenons it will fry the wire harnesses for the headlamps. Unless you can get the mechanics to go in and check to see if there is higher gauge wire on the limited, if not you have two options.

Option one bring it to the dealer and pay to have the larger gauge wires installed then connected the xenon housing, I am pretty sure they can do it.Option two you can run a larger gauge external wire harness for the lamps to draw their power from the battery directly and it gets its signal to turn on from a connection to the stock headlamp socket.
Those are the only ways I know you could run the OEM Xenon housings safely.

We mean aftermarket OEM SPEC'D headlight assemblies that use a softer glue.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

I understand.

But buying the entire assembly would avoid cracking the housing. This is what i'm most interested in.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

Yeah, i completely understand. Sometimes money > hassle, but I'll look into this as well.

Again, I'm just trying to find the simpleness way to get limited headlights on my Laredo - since xenons were the only thing missing.

Thanks again, all.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

Seems like you're going to have to wait. I'm sure you'll find aftermarket OEM Spec'd projectors by then for a really good price.
