Re: xenon headlights retrofit

why cant we just get housings and use the aftermarket bulbs and ignitors from xenondepot like everyone is doing? that sounds like the ticket for me

I thought about doing that but looking into it it wouldn't be as simple as replacing the housing and putting aftermarket bulbs in. First, the Jeep housings use a D1S bulb which besides having the ignitors built on to the builb, is held in differently than a D2S bulb. A D2S bulb would fit fine, but you would have to come up with some way to hold it in place. The second thing I found is it doesn't seem that anybody makes any adapters from a H11 bulb to either D1S or D2S so you would have to cut your factory plug off and then wire up your kit. AFAIK these would be the only issues, but I could be wrong.

Both of the issues really aren't that big, but while it seems it would work in theory, I didn't want to spend $300+ on a housing to find out it didn't work. If I can find a light for cheap on Ebay I'll probably try it though.

Re: xenon headlights retrofit

Just do like the 06-10 guys do...isolate the power and ground for the ballast and wire in an HID H11 relay harnesss and connect it straight to the battery. Look at my how to for the 06-10 guys in the how to forums. Its as simple as that.
