XenonDepot Kit - One Headlight Stays On

Been having a recurring problem as of late.

Bought the XD HID Kit (4300K Philips) about a year ago. When shutting off the lights, the left light bulb would always shut off a few seconds before the right. This is the "wink" effect other users have reported, and I never minded it.

As of a few months ago however, the right headlight would "stick" and not shut off. A couple of toggles between the headlight "OFF/AUTO/ON" switch inside the vehicle would usually correct this situation after a couple of cycles, but it was an annoyance nonetheless.

As of last night - the switch toggle fix no longer works and the right headlight just stays on. I had to remove the fuse last night to manually shut it off.

This morning, it happened again, and I noticed that jiggling the cables shut it off - but this could have been a coincidence.

Any users experiencing this error? Any suggested fixes?

Thanks and best,
Alex

Sounds like the relay is sticking. Best bet is to replace the relay. Cheap fix, about $17 for a pair from XD. As far as the winking effect, I had the same issue. I ordered an extra set of can bus fixes and tried different swapping them around until I got a pair that shut off at the same time.

Which part is the relay? The small plastic box? Do I have to unmount the front grill again to re-install or do you know if it is an easy DIY (i.e. just unplugging and plugging back in). Don't remember if the relay plugs directly into the bulbs -- in that case would have to open everything up again..

Thanks!

The relay should be the one with the wire that goes directly to your battery or other +12v feed. Can't answer your grill question since I don't know where you mounted everything.

Re: XenonDepot Kit - One Headlight Stays On

Alex, the problem you are describing would be a stuck relay. If you are still having a problem, send me a PM with your order number and would be glad to help get this taken care of for you.

John
