Huh? The first SRT Jeep came out in 2006. The first SRT-badged cars were the 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10 and the Dodge Neon SRT-4. There were also SRT versions of the Dodge Ram, Dodge Magnum, Chrysler Crossfire, and Crysler 300C prior to 2006.

Sure, the Jeep was the first SUV to have an SRT-8 version, but that was done to boost sales for a vehicle that wasn't living up to its predecessor. The SRT-8 was meant to be a halo car, its purpose was to get people into the showrooms to check it out and hopefully buy a more pedestrian WK while they were there.

I'm cool with the idea of an SRT GC, but I think it makes more sense for a Dodge, and I like the idea of both coexisting.

I dont see how it makes more sense to be in a Dodge, maybe the overall perception of dodge is more performance then Jeep but the reality is the Jeep SRT was here long before a Durango was even thought about or looked at for any performance aspect. So yes the SRT in regards to a Jeep or a Durango belongs to the Jeep and it makes more sense to be in a Jeep because it has been in a Jeep and was SUCCESSFUL. So from a business standpoint why bring another SUV in which is going to do NOTHING different AT ALL! Im sure the suspension will be pretty damn similar and we knows its gonna have the same motor/tranny, so why do it, wheres the differentiation? Will it be for anyone who wants to tow or have more room, I mean its just a one off from the looks is it not?

Dodge is just trying to make a buck obviously so its smart maybe, but it belongs to the Jeep, they're just copying at this point Thats all Im saying, they saw Jeep success and wanted in so they are, good for them, but from any Jeep SRT owners standpoint I think its going to be kind of gloomy, the exclusivity and the prestige is going to be gone but hey all good, we all know the Jeep will look way better, probably ride better too, after all its a Jeep not a Dodge

Re: 2011 Dodge Durango Test site

durango looks meaner than the jeep. If they can blow the vvt 6.4 the way the 5.0 coyote can be blown even at higher compression, slap on a turbo kit and roll out. (oh and remove the third row seat for weight savings..... Should be fun to watch. I do agree though, the platform sharing should make for some confusion, a little turf battle stuff.

yuppp, I guess money talks in the end sad truth but hey, the Jeeps better looking from what I've seen. The Dodge still looks like a Dodge haha, something about it just looks cheap and cheesy, must be me seeing the older ones in it

Re: 2011 Dodge Durango Test site

It would be stupid on Chryster's part to have a SRT Durango. It always seams like Chryster for years want to get more new ass into the seats of every Jeep, and it would under cut Jeep to have a Dodge SRT SUV. IMO

I'd squash that rumor, an SRT version of the new Durango is not in the works.
