That pic has been on allpar for a little while now. Remember how the first gen durango was built upon and had identical looks to the dakota from the same era? Let's hope the next gen dakota is based on this platform and offers the same looks. I'd love to replace my tacoma with that as of now nonexistent truck.
I think the SRT makes more sense for the durango than it does for the wk2. Dodge is supposed to be the high performance brand, chrysler upscale, ram trucks, and jeep rugged. SRT isn't rugged. It's high performance.
That said, they're not really the same vehicle. They're very similar, yes, but the styling is different enough that non-car-nerds won't notice. Also, the durango is stretched several inches and offers a third row. A longer wheelbase offers more stability at go-fast speeds, which is another reason I think it makes more sense on the durango (not that the wk2 doesn't have a long wheelbase and lots of stability).
I really hope there is no Durango 6.4, that would be dumb imo. I mean they are similar SUVs, the Jeep having rights to the SRT platform first. Then wed basically be competing with a one of of ourselves lol. Same motor so the competition would be much larger which isn't bad but some of the exclusivity will be gone. I really think it just kinda defeats the purpose and takes away from the prestige and prowess of the Cherokee O well, Im still Jeep for life lol
durango looks meaner than the jeep. If they can blow the vvt 6.4 the way the 5.0 coyote can be blown even at higher compression, slap on a turbo kit and roll out. (oh and remove the third row seat for weight savings..... Should be fun to watch. I do agree though, the platform sharing should make for some confusion, a little turf battle stuff.
yuppp, I guess money talks in the end sad truth but hey, the Jeeps better looking from what I've seen. The Dodge still looks like a Dodge haha, something about it just looks cheap and cheesy, must be me seeing the older ones in it
It would be stupid on Chryster's part to have a SRT Durango. It always seams like Chryster for years want to get more new ass into the seats of every Jeep, and it would under cut Jeep to have a Dodge SRT SUV. IMO
