Trim Package information indicates that the Citadel has heavier duty brakes. I've never quite understood what that meant. However, tonight in looking at the LotPro site, it indicates that the diameter of the front rotor is 13.8 inches for the Citadel and R/T compared to 13.0 for the SXT and Limited. This is in contrast to the JGC with a front rotor diameter of 12.9" on all but the SRT8. I was also reading a Sept. 2013 Car and Driver review of the JGC and one of their complaints is the brakes and in particular stopping distance and brake fade.
So I'm wondering how much difference that extra .8 inches makes on the Citadel. It's certainly going to add almost half an inch to the business end of the rotor so I'd think it could make quite a lot of different. Anybody know 1) if these specs are correct and 2) seen any stopping distance comparisons from Dodge or 3rd parties re the two brake setups, as well as with the two engines and AWD v. RWD. If everything else is equal, I would think these setups would make a difference. How much, I don't know.
the Durango and GC use the same brakes for heavy duty and nonHD. The specs you read are wrong. The difference is larger caliper brackets on the front and vented rotors on the rear. The nonHD uses solid rear discs.(unvented)
