Good news all around. Enjoy your time with them, and hope they are thrilled with that gorgeous Durango.

As for the problem with the door locks not working properly, turns out there was a loose connector of some kind. The device the wire connected to is in the rear of the vehicle somewhere. They had the floor of the storage area all torn up to find it. The dealer said it was an easy fix, just snapping it closed, but a bear to find.

Message in this is to check your vehicles over. It was much easier to get that painting approved when the problem is discovered predeliver and holding up the sale.

So the paint should be dry and vehicle ready to go late tomorrow. And the kids touched down today in Seattle, so they're back on US soil! Picking them up tomorrow at 5p in KC.
Thanks for the tip on the locks.
Good news on the paint. I'll have the dealer check it for me and fix it in PDI I hope.

Most importantly, enjoy the time with the family, and a big welcome home and thank you to them for their service.

Re: 2014 Cherry Red Durango Citadel

Well the paint touchup was done, the door locks fixed and daughter and son-in-law took delivery yesterday. It's a beautiful vehicle and they really like it. Only minor irritation is the beeping from the vehicle when a person gets out of the car with the fob. So if the person gets out of the vehicle with the fob and goes into a convenience store while everyone else is in the car, there is a message that says something to the effect of "The fob has left the vehicle" and it continues to beep. We couldn't figure out a way to disable this. Any ideas?

This will probably be close to my last post. I appreciate all the helpful information and kind words. I hope everyone enjoys their new Durangos.

Incidentally, my son-in-law is a member of USAA, as most military folks are. USAA updated their certificate program late last week to include the 2014 Durango. You just go to the USAA site and print out a certficate and take it to any dodge dealer. This certificate provides a military rebate that replaces and increases the standard $500.00 bonus cash that Chrysler offers military folks to $1,000. Here's the skinny on the USAA site and as I read it, it includes former military that are USAA members (and their former dependents):

"Exclusive Bonus Cash Allowance offer is valid at any franchised U.S. Chrysler Group LLC Dealer. This Bonus Cash Allowance offer is not available to the general public. Offer is additive to most current national, regional and other bonus incentives and is available on Employee Advantage, Dealership Employee Purchase or Affiliate Rewards Program vehicles. Offer is not compatible with the Military Program or FFA Member incentives. Chrysler offer discounts only to persons eligible for membership in USAA's Property and Casualty Insurance Group. P&C membership is generally available to current and former members of the U.S. Military and their former dependents. Certificate is valid for the person named on certificate and is transferable only to immediate family members within the same household with proof of address (valid driver's license or state identification card required). Certificate must be presented to a franchised U.S. Chrysler Group LLC dealer. Only one (1) original certificate is valid; duplicates are not. Certificate must be redeemed at time of purchase or lease of eligible vehicle. Only one (1) original certificate may be redeemed per eligible customer per vehicle. Offer not redeemable on a purchase/lease made prior to receiving this certificate. Certificate is nonnegotiable and not redeemable for cash. See dealer for details."

Glad they, and you are happy.

Not sure about disabling the warning beep.

We're happy to have been assistance to you (and the family) in the search. All the best to everyone going forward.

Glad they are home and like the Durango. It's been a pleasure having you here with us.

That beep was one of the first things I changed.

I just checked and it's on that big center display... Controls-->Settings-->doors & locks
Uncheck "Sound horn with lock"

That settings menu is where much of the magic happens!

Agree with the others, and it is thanks to YOU that I knew to inquire about the $1000 rebate offered in September. Hope that cherry red Durango keeps your loved ones safe and happy for a good long while. Best to you from this former fellow resident of the Show Me state.

And Fireman, we will continue to be interested to hear of your discoveries, observations and comments. Hope you are enjoying that beauty of yours.

Oh, absolutely! I'm always finding things. I hate not being able to be on here as much as I'd like but I love having a job so work has to be my priority. The last cut hit us pretty hard.

I'm very much enjoying the Durango. My latest find was with the cruise control. When enabled, it shows a little speedometer icon at the bottom right of the speedometer. When a speed has been set, it shows the exact speed by that icon so there's an icon and a tiny little number next to it.

And if you have the adaptive cruise set (for vehicles that have that feature), there are horizontal lines when you have enabled adaptive cruise. The more lines stacked one on top of the other, the greater distance the adaptive cruise will keep your vehicle from the vehicle in front. My son-in-law is very happy with this feature so far and in his words, he says, "this feature is the real deal!"

It's not rust.

I'm not sure what it is...

But it happens.... a lot.

I checked a few at work last night and didn't see anything but I have seen it before. I'd love to know what causes it.

Re: 2014 Cherry Red Durango Citadel

Kids are on their way to St. Louis to tonight's playoff game between Cards and Pirates. Son-in-law is having his first oportunity to drive in interstate highway traffic and sent me a couple observations about the Durango. First, he's really liking Adaptive Cruise. He said when he's behind a semi, the Adaptive Cruise, will keep him a constant distance behind the rig, and with the aid of drafting, his mpg is in excess of 27 at 65 mph. Also, there was an accident up ahead on I-70, and the navigation alerted him to it both onscrean and through voice, offering alternative routes to avoid the accident.
