I had no idea you can also display the video on the front center stack. I assume though it only displays when in park.

So the next obvious question is can that be defeated so the front passenger can watch the video while in motion...
I know there is a lock-pick app for the MyTouch Ford but it voids warranties and there may be an issue with insurance. I know some used the lock-pick with Ford so they could manually enter navigation addresses while in motion.

Tim, thanks for all those pics. You have me convinced now that it was worth the wait. By the way, what where those purple indicator lights adjacent to the DVD display hinge? And I must mention, your color combination really looks great. Enjoy!

I added a couple more pics, just of the lights. I love the "hockey stick" LEDs on the front. The pics I took are of the parking lights being on in case anyone was wondering.

And yes, absolutely worth the wait. The blu-ray is such a good add-on, whether you have kids or just wanted to spoil yourself. I actually have to restrain myself from just going out to the car to watch a movie.

The lights that look purple under the screens are actually red, they just had a purple hue in the pics. I don't know yet what lights indicate. I hadn't really thought about it yet.

Also, yes, when parked you have the option to also display the video on the center console screen, either full screen or about a 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch sub-screen that's intertwined with the normal menus. But of course, for safety and legal reasons, it shuts off and reverts to the normal screen as soon as you put the truck in gear. No doubt tweaking that would void your warranty somehow.

I'm fairly certain those are not indicator lights, but they are the infrared sensors for both the remote and for sending the wireless audio signal to the headphones.

Thanks for the link!

Although it looks like the new RA4 radios (in the '14 Grand Cherokee, '13+ Rams and presumably our Durangos) will need an updated harness, not quite ready yet:

https://www.coastaletech.com/LOCKPICKC8.htm

This really looks like a slick system, which utilizes the EVIC controls for operation.

I'll still be wary of putting one in, but only because I assume it voids the warranty...and I'm purchasing a max-care lifetime warranty specifically because I want to make sure the electronics are covered for as long as I own the car.

I agree with you on that. But they are visible to the naked eye if that changes anything.

Looks great! Congrats and thanks for sharing your impressions and the pics.

I was wondering where they put the actual BlueRay player on the new models as I could see it's no longer in the center dash. It looks like there is still some storage in the center console so that is good.

And forgive me for the dumb question, but I am assuming this unit will play regular DVDs as well as BlueRay?

Those are def IR LEDs if you put on sound and put the headphones on. You will see them flashing in video.

Yes, DVD as well.

The blu-ray/DVD/cd player is in the center storage console/arm rest between the driver's and front passenger's seats. I took a few pics, but should've zoomed out so it was easier to see where it was. It takes up quite a bit of room, so there is a lot less storage in there than in previous year model Durangos.

Re: 2014 Citadel With Blu-Ray - Initial Impressions

Congrats on the Durango, and welcome to the 2014 family.

Glad you're enjoying the Blu-ray system - its nice to finally see one in an owner's vehicle.
