I checked and some of the early builds with the rear entertainment system used in Dodge promotional videos did not have these set of lights; not that it matters.

Can you control each display separately from the UConnect center information 8.4" display?

How does the rear entertainment system sound through the 9 speakers?

And I assume you only get 1 remote, but do you forsee having 2 remotes worthwhile when viewing from 2 different inputs? I am wondering if I should order one more remote so my kids don't argue over it ;-)

I'm going to assume your questions were meant for me. I just went out and played around with the blu-ray system in an attempt to answer you questions as best I could.

Question: "Can you control each display separately from the UConnect center information 8.4" display? "

Answer: It doesn't appear so. From my short-lived experience, you put in a disc and it will display on one or both screens, depending on if one or both are flipped open. You do have the option to pick the input, however, and they are listed as Disc, AV1, AV2, HDMI2, and HDMI2. So from what I can tell, you can select the display input from the front controls, but what you select controls both screens. Also from what I can tell, when it comes to selecting the input for for the individual screens, that is only done from those individual screens based on whether or not something is plugged into the seat-side inputs (selected by the remote). Also, the driver or front passenger can disable the remote from the front controls so that only selections made on the front display are honored, so to speak.

Question: "How does the rear entertainment system sound through the 9 speakers?"

Answer: Awesome! Significant upgrade in sound from my 2011 Citadel, which had the 9-speaker Alpine system with subwoofer. The bass is fantastic, and there is much more bass than my 2011. It sounds to me like there is a significant upgrade in the front-door speakers (I'm not sure if they are 9" or 6" inch speakers, but they bump). The system has an option to enable/disable "surround sound." There is a noticeable difference when the option is on...and I personally will leave it on all the time, with music, movies, radio, whatever. It sounds fantastic. It sounds like you are in a high-quality movie theater.

Question: "And I assume you only get 1 remote, but do you forsee having 2 remotes worthwhile when viewing from 2 different inputs?"

Answer: Yes, you only get one. No need for two, in my opinion. The kids would just have to share the remote. It could easily be stored in the compartment behind either front seat or in either version of the rear center console (with the bucket seat configuration.) The remote is IR and not RF, so it has to be pointed directly at each individual screen to work. So in theory, kid 1 could pick his/her input and/or control the movie in the player, hand the remote to kid 2, and kid 2 could do the same.

Hopefully that answers your questions.

Or kid 1 could control kid 2's screen and vise versa starting an all out war in the backseat of your brand new vehicle. This causes you to turn around and threaten the kids with stopping the car and beating the daylights out of them. All the while your wife is telling you to calm down because you'll have a heart attack. During this ordeal, the car in front stops short causing your vehicle's crash mitigation to kick in unexpectedly and slam on the brakes causing your wife to squeeze her milk shake and it explodes all over the dash and front seats.

Or they could share...

YES TIM, YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS IN GREAT DETAIL. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your time and effort. I am really looking forward to setting this up for my kids during our long drives.

By the way, vertrkr posted that there is an RRT out for the latest uConnect software for version 13.38.52.

Re: 2014 Citadel With Blu-Ray - Initial Impressions

After all the comments I have read regarding the Rear DVD, we have been missing the most important feedback of all...What does the target audience think of the final product? (i.e. 5-7 year olds)

I am happy to report that feedback was overwhelmingly positive, both on the DVD and the Durango as a whole. One very shy 7 year old girl who didn't want mommy and daddy to get rid of their minivan said, "Cool, now I can watch Barbie in the car". One 5 year old boy looked at the dual exhaust and said, "That means we can go speed, right dad?".

Picked it up earlier tonight. Our Durango is flawless. I could not find so much as the slightest blemish on it.

Glad we waited to get the vehicle we wanted.

Noticed you're in Brookfield, WI? I have a brother-in-law and sister-in-law there with 3 kids ranging from I believe 10 to 14. I'll be driving right by you on my way to New London for Thanksgiving (Mother and Father-in-law are there.)

I'll be on the lookout for your Max Steel....

As long as your son doesn't want to watch Barbie in the car, you're gold.

Wow, what a small world! You will be passing right by on your way to New London. Just hope those nieces and nephews aren't going to end up as Brookfield Central kids, since we are in Brookfield East territory.

Glad to see you are going to have your new D in time for your trip. You won't be disappointed! Your kids will love 'Durango-vision'.

So yes, if you see a Max Steel while passing through Brookfield, be sure to wave, because that must be me!

Very true Agonzo. It makes it all worthwhile to see such smiles like that. Thanks for passing on the good karma. Cheers!
