We spec'd out the same truck, right? Mine is damn near perfect too. I'm absolutely blown away by it. Such a nice vehicle.

It's great your kids love it. I've got a 3-year old daughter and 5-month old son. My only feedback is from my daughter, of course, and she's mesmerized with fact that she can "watch toonies in the car." No doubt the wait was worth it. I never even considered changing my order to speed up production.

What are your thoughts on the screen resolution/quality?

Yes. I believe we have the same truck: Hemi Citadel AWD, Max Steel + Light Frost, Captains Chairs, Towing Package, Tech Package, rear DVD.

I still haven't been able to watch anything on the rear DVD yet. The kids have, but I haven't. It was funny however...some friends stopped over this evening to join us and the kids trick or treating. My son kept telling everyone to come and see the new 'movie car' that mom and dad bought. None of the other options mean anything to the kids, but the rear DVD, well, that's just magical!

I am happy to report that feedback was overwhelmingly positive, both on the DVD and the Durango as a whole. One very shy 7 year old girl who didn't want mommy and daddy to get rid of their minivan said, "Cool, now I can watch Barbie in the car". One 5 year old boy looked at the dual exhaust and said, "That means we can go speed, right dad?".

Picked it up earlier tonight. Our Durango is flawless. I could not find so much as the slightest blemish on it.

Glad we waited to get the vehicle we wanted.
Excellent news.

Fantastic post with great pictures. I am days away from ordering a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and was holding out for the rear seat Blu-Ray as we have two kids. This confirms my suspicions that it is a must have.

Yes, doing a two-for-one swap. My 2008 JGC SRT8 and 2006 Corvette C6 Coupe for a 2014 JGC SRT. My older daughter (she's 3.5) loves the SRT8 (which has rear entertainment) but with the upgraded Corsa/Mopar exhaust she can't hear much when we are driving anywhere. Can't fit the kiddos and wife in the Corvette either and my 2011 Avalanche with rear seat entertainment is an awesome all around truck but it's, well, a sled to say the least. Will post pics when it arrives.

Re: 2014 Citadel With Blu-Ray - Initial Impressions

I missed my window to order a Durango with the Rear blu-ray. Anyone know when they will allow orders to open up again. Last I heard they were supposed to start filling JGCs with the blu-ray around 11-18. Maybe I need to venture over to the Jeep forums to get an update if they started at least producing them.

I would bet they have a ton of orders back-logged for the JGC that they won't start filling Durango orders for a while.

The dilemma is that there is an R/T in Fort Worth (I'm in Houston) available now that has the blu-ray and everything I want except includes the painted wheels. I want the gunmetal. It doesn't have the tech package either which I'm not entirely sold on but would be nice.

Anyone think there's a chance that they don't bring back the blurry option? It's a must have for me after these great reviews, especially with a 3 year old and a one week old as we will keep this car for quite a while as our family hauler.

I'm not particularly in a rush but would like to get one before March.

Thanks,
Rob

Re: 2014 Citadel With Blu-Ray - Initial Impressions

I'm not sure what the deal is with the Blu-ray. Donlen currently states that there are no restrictions on the Durango...but if Dodge is not taking orders on them (have you actually talked with a dealer to see if they can place an order for one?), then I don't know if that's good or bad.

Donlen does state that the Grand Cherokee DVD is expected to go into production on 12/9 now.

On the technology package, I find the blind spot monitoring useful...the crash mitigation, rear cross-path monitoring and advanced brake assist not as much. If you are living without those features today in your current ride, you probably won't "miss them."

However, if you are going to be logging a lot of highway miles for vacations and trips (or even your commute) I would find the Advanced Cruise control with Stop more than worth it.

Good luck!

This really looks like a slick system, which utilizes the EVIC controls for operation.

I'll still be wary of putting one in, but only because I assume it voids the warranty...and I'm purchasing a max-care lifetime warranty specifically because I want to make sure the electronics are covered for as long as I own the car.
I'm surprised these bypass units are so expensive. In my Honda Ridgeline, all you had to do was wire one of the leads coming off the radio to a ground post (I think it was meant to go to the Parking Brake, as I recall). Voila! Instant access to navigation controls while driving. Searching for this info online took all of 20 minutes. Maybe it's just not possible in the Durango.

Having to pull over every time was a real PITA!!
Just don't operate it when it's stupid to do so.
Like when you're doing 90MPH around those hairline turns in the mountains with your HEMI...

Any Dealer that lets this purchase get away simply because of the wheels is crazy! That has to be the simplest thing to rectify with a change-out to what you want.

Assuming, of course, you can live without the Technology Package. I wanted the Tech more than any specific wheel type. But I could not live with the R/T or "stealth" outfittings because I like the Citadel look.

I have the R/T with the upgraded wheels. I wanted the standard dark ones. I was told they can't switch them because the wheels are marked with the vin and they can't sell a car as new (meaning the car the switch my wheels with) with different vin wheels on it. Something to go with basic warranty. Anyway, Koons didn't want to do it and I didn't push. I figured I could go get the 20" SRT wheels if I want. But the look has definitely grown on me. Still considering the change at some point though.
