Idsbiker is correct. The press sheet pdf states the following:

"Bi-xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are standard on R/T and Citadel, turning the night into day. Autoleveling technology adjusts headlight beam aim for slight changes in elevation."

Another page has HID optional on Limited.

Quandary, as in a little disappointed. Deal breaker? Definitely not. The wait for the 8 speed transmission is why there isn't a Citadel already residing in my garage. I would, however, like to grin and not groan every time I approach it in a parking lot. I keep my vehicles awhile (hence the '99 4Runner LTD) so I like a more classic less trendy look. Get the branding tie-in for Dodge with the taillights. Still can't wait to see in person, drive a 2014, and hopefully own one.

I agree with everything you said. I have been eying this truck for over a year. In my mind, nothing else really competes with it. The improvements for 2014 are vast and they really hit the nail on the head.

I am also not a huge fan of the tail lights, but not a deal breaker. I am hoping it looks much better in person. Worst case scenario, I am sure there will be a way to mod it (smoke them, unplug, etc) if absolutely necessary. September can't get here soon enough!

Someone posted a video of the Citadel on youtube at from the NYC Auto Show. I wish there was an option for less chrome. Limited model has all goodies of Citadel except Adaptive Cruise, ventilated seats, remote Uconnect mobile access and Nappa leather seats. I have to think about it...

To me the new lights make it distinctive compared to all of the other SUV's. The previous versions were hard to tell from behind if it was a GC or Durango, or many other SUV's. The refresh hit all of the points I didn't care for. I'll probably sell my '05 Ram in about a year for a new Limited.

Re: **2014 Dodge Durango REVEAL** Pictures and specs! INCREDIBLE!!!

I like the Citadel wheels, I really do. Just not on that vehicle. They'd look GREAT on an Alfa Rome sports coupe luxury thing. But they look weird on the Durango, like some sort of tasteless aftermarket option. There's a LOT of chrome on it, which isn't necessary a bad thing, I think what throws it off for me is they tried to put a crosshair in still. Had it all just been a chrome honeycomb, it's look better and less awkward IMO.

The 8 speed transmission hasn't shown to provide better fuel economy or performance. In fact, some GC owners are getting WORSE fuel economy than comparable 6 speeds - granted this isn't a great comparison as very few have gone from one to the other with the same driving habits, etc. but the point it shows is there's not a dramatic improvement from the 8 speed, but there is an unproven transmission that dealers and mechanics are unfamiliar with, as opposed to a tried and true transmission found in fullsize trucks and other models for the better side of a decade. You do at least get the really sweet gear knob, I really do like that tbh.

It's kind of lame the Citadel doesn't have the leather topped dash and stuff. Makes me think they're specifically holding some things out for a higher end model in the next year or two. Grand Wagoneer or Aspen perhaps.

Only you can answer that.

In my opinion, the upgrades listed on page 1 of the features and changes thread plus the fascia update is worth the money. I thought the v6 coupled with the 5 speed transmission made the truck feel underpowered. I have not driven the 8 speed yet but I have read that it made the v6 feel like it has a bit more pep. I want to get out and drive a '14 GC for a comparison.

I would bet the fuel economy will improve after some miles have been logged and the motor/transmission is fully broken in. Dodge says 9% - that is almost 1.5mpg city better, so it is nothing drastic, but couple that with better performance (even if it is just slightly better) and you can't go wrong.

Judging by the GC thread, dealers will probably still deal on these. Seems like people are ordering GCs new for 4-7% below invoice while some are getting '13s for 11-15% below invoice. There is definitly money to be saved by going with a '13...just need to decide if the updates are worth 2-3k.

Nobody is ordering GCs at 4-7% below invoice, you'd be lucky to get 1.5% below invoice. Some people are misrepresenting the deals they got, but no dealer in their right mind is going to sell the vehicle and not make money on it, and at 4-7% below invoice, they quite literally do lose money on the vehicle.

Not saying they won't do it, but you're going to get raped on your trade or your financing.

I'd expect no better than 1% below invoice, via the Tread Lightly discount. The '13s have some incentives on them, which is why you're seeing them below 1% under invoice.

It's worth noting that they have a supply shortage issue. They're selling them faster than they can make them, so they have no reason to lose money to move the vehicles. If you come in with the thought process of getting 2% or more under invoice, you're going to leave disappointed. In fact - there's even a thread about that where a guy failed to get below 1.5% under invoice at two dealers! The dealership that would do 1.5% under invoice was also going to rape him on his trade-in, to offset the cost difference.

FAUEE, there are many guys who have ordered and delivered 14 jgc and quite a few have gotten at least 3 percent under invoice. there is still a dealer in the dc area who is doing 7 percent under. in that deal a couple of guys got charged extra, but that was worked out.

Man are you Mr Negatively most of the time on here.. To say that we are lying about how much we are getting under invoice is stupid. Why would some of us lie about it?

Yes, some dealers don't want to lose money and will get all they can. Some dealers know there is competition and will be willing to make deals. Dealers make more money off of service and extras than the sale.. If you sell 10 vehicles and lose $500 so you can get the big bonus at the end of the month and quarter, isn't it worth it then?

Is this a known issue? I looked at two dealerships in my area (Chicago) and one of them had 50+ on the lot ready to go with 20+ in transit and the other had 40+ on the lot with 20+ in transit.
