It seems like the new radio in these cars / trucks / jeeps is still a bit of a work in progress on the software side. Only thing I would suggest is trying a different USB drive or media card...and then wait for the next uconnect update.

Anybody know if the liftgate can sense when it is about to hit something above it?
No, it does not. I looked into this when I was doing my research (because I will probably have the same garage door issue.) However, if I recall from testing a '13, you can pull down on the strap before it gets to the top and that will stop the door from opening further. Your garage door would too...but as you noted you will risk damaging the finish on the liftgate.

Thanks, Joey. Had a feeling it might require a software update. I'll test my iPod tomorrow to see if the audio jack works correctly. I'll also try to put my hands on another USB drive or media card to test.

Strap.....what strap? Didn't see one, but I'm going to go out and double check. Had one in my old 4Runner, and that strap was indestructible and very helpful. Next steps are 1) clean out the junk in the back of the garage so I can pull up farther, and 2) find a piece of thick foam to put on the interior of the garage door to protect the finish on the liftgate.

Hmmm....maybe the D doesn't have a strap...but it must have a handle or something to pull the liftgate down if you're not using power? I just don't recall at the moment.

Those pool noodles work great. Cut a small section, slice it open, and put it on there. Paint it black...

Excellent idea. Now, are you suggesting I put it on the liftgate or the garage door? JK

Paint it black? So much more grown up than neon green. This really is a great suggestion. Thx!

Thankfully it doesn't crash into it, but now I'm considering something padded on the inside of the door to protect the outside of the liftgate. I like how high it goes I obstructed so I can walk underneath it without having to duck, but it is proving to be a problem in the garage.
My Durango fits in my garage (house built in 1967)... but I can't close the garage door for fear of hitting the bumper. She's just a big girl, no way around it.

The JGC that we played with fit ok.

The Explorer Sport *barely* fit when we were trying that out.

As for the lift gate, it's one of my biggest "little" annoyances (along with the lack of a wood steering wheel option). The Ford Explorers have a little button on the lift gate that you can set the lift gate to raise to a specific height and stop by default. Neither the Durango or the JGC have this. It's annoying.
