None produced yet (for forum members that is). Trust me, when the first one has been produced you (and everyone else) will know it.

I'm thinking maybe there should be some bets made...which will happen first?

1. Durangos with DVD built
2. Grand Cherokee CRD (diesel) start to be delivered
3. Jeep Cherokees start to be delivered.

There's quite a few groups of people feeling ‘delay anxiety' in the JeepGarage community right now.

At least the latest Uconnect software is now available...well except for Durangos.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

After reading about the delays with the Dvd we decided not to wait for one with it. I think it turned out to be a good thing for us since our kids are old enough that they don't really need it for trip entertainment. So I saved 2k and picked up 2 new Samsung Galaxy tabs for them to replace aging Kindle fires and saved over $1400.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I'm looking forward to becoming a first time Dodge owner!

Sounds like a good decision for your family. I, too, am a first time Dodge owner and got a Durango with the Hemi. So far so good. Feel certain you will enjoy the forum!

One more to add to the list:

4. Jeep Grand Wagoneers start to be delivered.

I'm feeling lucky. $50 says the Grand Wagoneer ships before my Durango with DVD!

Will that be a diesel or gas GW? Changes my bet

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Hi All,
I continue to appreciate the information provided by all of the forum members!
I drove a Limited V6 this morning and an R/T Hemi.

My question is about the R/T exhaust. Is the R/T designed to sound "sportier" than the Hemi in the Limited or Citadel models?

I liked the V6 more the second time i drove it. Very smooth and certainly adequate for my needs. The Hemi was definitely more fun, but i don't want it to sound like a race car!

Can anyone comment on the sound of the Hemi in a limited or Citadel?

Also, with the Hemi, you get a different 4WD transfer case. Is the Hemi transfer case a better 4WD system with regard to traction? We do a fair amount of ski trips.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am ordering soon!
Thanks again!

I believe the exhaust on the R/T is tuned to sound "sportier" than on the Citadel or Limited. I think it comes down to what sounds best to you.

The AWD system on the HEMI equipped models is more sophisticated than on the V6 units.

The HEMI system has the High/Low (two speed) transfer case which makes it more useful for off roading, soft surfaces and so on. The "neutral" position also allows the Durango to be flat towed (e.g. behind a motorhome) where the V6 must be towed four wheels off the ground.

The V6 AWD is a permanent 50/50 split front to rear. I believe the HEMI system allows for front to rear variability since its described as "active on demand AWD".

I drove a few Durangos before buying my 2014 R/T, I have to say the sound really is not bad unless you're gunning the engine, and even then, inside the car is not an issue.

I do believe that the R/T is made to sound a little sportier, but like I said its not anything to worry about. especially if you don't have the windows down all the time.

I went with the R/T because I hate the way the Citadel looks with all the chrome, and I could get all the Citadel options in the R/T which made sense for me. I also like the standard Hemi and while I don't tow and in no way need that power, I live by the rule of "because I can" and have never been unhappy.

I am a first time Dodge owner and I have to say I have been very happy thus far. I have owned Fords, Nissans, and have an Audi for reference. My friends gave me the "YOU SPENT 50K ON A DODGE???" bit until they see it and get in, then they fall in love. I have decided to throw a K&N intake in there which may make it a bit louder, but I'm only 30 so maybe I'm still childish when it comes to making noise.

Killing gas and loving every minute of it!

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Thanks Dave!
Very helpful!
If that's the case with the exhaust and the 4WD system, I am leaning towards the Hemi.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Yes the Citatel Hemi does have a quieter exhaust then the R/T. Hemi also has the the two speed transfer case as Dave stated. What I found most different and not really discussed was the V6 has the 8 speed 845RE trans. and the V8 had the 8 speed 8HP70 trans. My understanding is the V6 trans is a ZF patented trans that Chrysler makes and that the V8 trans is a ZF trans. Whether that truly means one is better then the other I don't know.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Gtaz19,
Thanks for your input too. I agree that in normal driving, the sound inside the R/T cabin was muted. My GL450 is coming off lease and I think the interior in the new Durango is actually nicer, more functional and has better technology (Uconnect, USB Ports, TFT display). With 3 kids and a dog, the 2nd row will have the captain's chairs. I guess full-loaded with fam and cargo, the extra power will be nice to have. I will go with the limited because we use the truck for the beach and don't want to vacuum the sand out of the perforated seats!
Its good to be 30, enjoy!
