Sorry I missed on the fun but you were in good hands. Congratulations!

For the Access Fund, what they did was mail me a goodie package with some stickers and stuff. On the back of the membership card was the code required to get your control number from Chrysler Affiliates. That good package came around 30 days later... which is the duration they require before getting the number. If somebody joins before ordering, they should be in good shape given orders take a good 30 days anyway.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Are there any group buys or below invoice deals in southern California on these? I understand that Koons in DC will do 5% below invoice, but DC is the other side of the USA, so I'd have substantial travel costs which would consume the savings.

What I want, if the seats prove good, is a Citadel with the V8, rear wheel drive, second row captain's chairs (without the big console), technology group, white or sandstone exterior, black and light frost interior.

We sat in a Citadel today and liked it. The ones at the recent car show did not have power, so the seats could not be moved.

I need to find a way to rent one so I can get a long enough test drive to be sure I'm not make a mistake with regard to seat comfort.

I purchased my car from Koons out here by DC. I happened to have a friends and family discount which gave me below invoice on a 2014 Durango R/T but they were not about to give me anything close without that code from the factory. It is true that you could probably get below invoice (I should say "Invoice" becasue we all know what a joke that is.) with a 2013 model, I've seen some 8K+ off, but I doubt you'll find a deal on a 2014 for a few months yet. Where did you hear you could get a deal like this at Koons?

I realize Texas is about as impractical for you as the DC area, but with an affiliate control number (or one could join TreadLightly) I was able to get 5.5% below invoice on a 2014 Citadel. Also, their combined fees were much practically half of the $499 I believe Koons charges. Thought I read months ago about good deals to be had in the Northwest, but I couldn't tell you where.

I was able to get 5% under invoice just west of Seattle for my 2014 Citadel. I bought a Durango package at fightingchance.com and it was well worth the $40. I used the techniques and info they recommend and I probably spent less than 5 hours total during the entire car buying process. I'm willing to bet you can snag the same deal or similar no matter where you live.

I can't directly answer your question but I may be able to help indirectly. First off, be careful with saying "5% below invoice". You're not comparing apples to apples when you do that because different dealers charge an additional document fee. Some may have no doc fee, mine was $200, Koons is $500, others are likely higher. I *could* tell you I got mine for 11% under invoice. Great deal, right? Not if there was a $1500 doc fee. I'm pretty sure nobody has a $1500 doc fee but hopefully, you get the point. If the doc fee isn't consistent, the % below invoice is meaningless when comparing deals.

Second, like Laureljoke mentioned, look into the Chrysler Affiliate program. It benefits both the buyer and the dealer. You will pay no less than 1% below invoice (+doc fee) and will quite likely do even better than that. There are many options... Treadlightly, Access Fund, etc. The company you work for may even be on the Chrysler Affiliate list already. Unless your company is on the list, you will pay for this but it will be FAR less than 1%. With some programs, you pay more but get an access code right away, others you pay less but have to wait 30 days or so. You're talking under $100 to join one of these organizations... and that money is probably going to a pretty good cause too so it benefits everybody.

Finally, yes - many of us got amazing deals well below invoice. Most of us went through upwards of a dozen dealers to get that deal. You will likely get out of it what you put into it.

Do a search on here and I think you'll find it's true. You can absolutely get a great deal on a 2014 if you do your homework, obtain a Chrysler Affiliate control number, and shop around. Many of us have.

See the tread about the Grand Cherokee group buy. The 5% below invoice is available from Nader. He is doing 7% below invoice on Grand Cherokees, so I guess the Durango is just too new for that. I've got no timeframe, and pay cash, so have no desperation or financing baloney to worry about.

Indeed! It is quite easy to send letters to the fleet/Internet department at many dealers. I'm in southern California, so there are bunches of them in a 100 mile radius. Somebody will want the deal, and I'm only buying one. To avoid games with fees and such, I'll do it just the same way as when one of our clients wants us to obtain bids on a remediation or demolition project. The only number on the bid form is a firm, fixed, total price, then the bidder's signature and title. I've ordered about half the vehicles I've ever bought (I'm 56), so do not suffer from the "must have it now" syndrome. No need to feel sorry for the dealerships - they are profitable operations, and have almost no cost to order and deliver a vehicle.
