I would just note a couple things:

1) The suspension for the R/T vs. the Citadel is tuned a bit differently. (R/T more firm and tuned for handling, Citadel softer and tuned for comfort).
2) You'll have factory roof rails on the Citadel as standard...these are not available at all on the R/T.

Other than that (and the interior seat differences), I believe you are correct.

Probably not interested anyway, but with the Citadel you have the option of the V6 engine and the Black/Tan interior which are not available on R/T.

Standard on Citadel but options on R/T are Safety, Security and Convenience Group and UConnect Navigation and Mobile Access (6 month trial).

I have a year trial on sat and Uconnect on my R/T and I did not pay extra for it, it came with the truck.

Part of what I was saying before is that once you add the standard features the Citadel has onto the R/T, you end up at the same cost. If you go beyond the standard features the Citadel has over the R/T, it will cost you the additional $2,000 again. As mentioned above, you get the roof rails and chrome and a different suspension. (Leaving out the V6 option as we are going for spec parity)

Good Point Joey, I forgot about the roof rack. that is something I actually wanted as was told I could have actually added had I wanted it. I guess my dealer was willing to order the parts and install, and because of that I assume it is still an option. I have never used a roof rack on any of my trucks or towed either but I like having the option should the need ever arise. I have the towing option i will probably never use.

As for the suspension, I guess it comes down to taste. The citadel has the same suspension as all other models except the R/T, and I believe it is actually a more expensive suspension, and then you have economies of scale kick in too as the R/T sell a lot less than other models from my understanding.

as I mentioned before I went with the R/T because I don't like the chrome look, but also because I like the sportier suspension, and I have to say while it obviously is not as good as sports cars I've owned, it is really good on corners for a truck its size. I've had friends in it who have been blown away at the reckless speeds at which I have turned corners because the insisted their truck would not make it.

I have read a few threads around here and other forums where folks have had no luck having the OEM factory roof rails installed. the dealer "thought" they could do it, but then backed out. At best, you'd have to drill holes in the roof and "wing it"...and most are reluctant to do that I think most R/T users who really want roof rails end up opting for non-permanent ones from Thule, etc.

For a time, I was considering the R/T myself, but I ultimately decided that I didn't need the Hemi, and I really wanted roof rails. That pushed me toward the Citadel.

I already do, I've had it for about 3 weeks now and couldn't be happier. I can't imagine anyone not loving their new Durango. With all the standard features, even the most base model is a fantastic SUV.

As for the roof rails, I suspected it wouldn't be as easy as installing as the salesperson stated. Drilling holes in anything called a roof is always leaving you open to new problems (unless factory installed of course), but since I've never used a roof rack in my life minus a few stupid stunts riding on top of the truck as a teenager, I can't imagine I'll miss them. In fact I completely forgot I didn't have them until you mentioned it a few posts ago. considering the way the V8 eats through gas, maybe it's a good thing, aerodynamics, every bit helps.

I know you will enjoy your Durango as well!

Ha I wish I had them too, I'm only 30, but this was before camera phones and youtube and even before Jackass first aired on TV. If I had purchased a camera earlier, that could have been my show. We were awful, we used to switch drivers on the highway with the driver crawling out the driver window over the car into the passenger window (hwy speeds).

I still do reckless things, but now I try and be mature enough not to risk bystander lives as well...

FYI. My Durango was built today. And it does have a DVD system with it. Yahoo
