Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

After putting the tape measure to the Durango and Grand Cherokee yesterday, it was obvious I'd have to have part of the 2nd row seats down in either, so I'm focusing on the smaller and lighter Grand Cherokee. The only mid-sized SUV with a wide enough cargo compartment that I would not need part of the 2nd row down is the Hyundai Santa Fe (either version), but it has several defects which precluded further consideration of it. Suburbans and Expeditions and such are too large to consider.

sounds like what you REALLY want is a minivan. I've got a 2002 Pontiac Montana going on sale in a few weeks...it's got AWD, factory DVD....

Seriously though...what are you putting back there? (Pet cage?)

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Joey,

That's too funny as the Durango I just ordered is a replacement for my 2002 Montana as well! You must have started a trend. Mine is an extended edition without
Dvd or awd.

Just curious what did you find to be problematic with the Sante Fe? We were going to look at one, but it didn't meet our needs with regard to tow capacity.

I still remember driving the new Montana home from the dealer 12 years ago. I know yours isn't AWD because I think I have one of only 2 or 3 ever sold. . There are so few AWD models that there is actually no aftermarket for exhaust! My repair shop had to custom bend pipes for it!

Good news for those ordering/buying 2014 Durango's... 2015 model year production is more than a year away .

If greenlighted, would be 2016 model year at the earliest, more likely 2017MY.

does this mean that dodge/chrysler has made a decision not to discontinue Durango production after the 2014 model (as has been rumored)?

I have no inside information myself on this, but if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly, I would say that the Durango would continue to be produced along side the Grand Cherokee through to and including the 2016 model year.

For MY 2017, the entire platform is due for a redesign IIRC. So sometime between now and then Chryco will determine if the Durango will migrate to the new platform, or if it will be a Grand Wagoneer, or possibly (but not likely) both.

This is all assuming of course that the Durango / Grand Wagoneer / Grand Cherokee all would be on the same platform, manufactured at JNAP.
