Having similar shady experiences here in central TX. I had an order in for a 2013 Citadel for 43K. When I saw the 2014's were about to be released I decided to show some patience for the better gas mileage and tail lights. I just got a response from my dealer saying the Invoice price is now 45K due to, get this, THE BLURAY PLAYER! I would point out that the entertainment system was included in the original quote for the 2013. I am about to have a fun conversation with them, needless to say...

Okay, Mark in Houston has magical powers. I didn't even order my Durango Citadel until last Friday.....missed the first round of ordering in July. Just got an email from him telling me I have a VIN to go with my VON, and my vehicle might be produced in the next two to three weeks. I'll believe it when I see it, but I was consoling myself with early October. My husband didn't want to be too early in the production process in case there were any hiccups. Hope there aren't any. Mark and I discussed the possibility of a JeepGarage forum tailgate at the dealership in case a slew of member vehicles arrive all at once. That could be interesting....

We're in escrow on two more rental houses. The one we're buying for $49,000 will rent for $750 plus (we have one in the same neighborhood rented at $835). While built in 1969, it has just been re-done with new a new bathroom, kitchen, paint, carpet, and so forth. Some of the rental houses also appreciate, the investment icing on the cake (one we have in Las Vegas we bought for $95,000 at the end of 2011 is now worth $135,000 plus).

Why is all of that in this forum?

A Limited (only way to get the V8) with the captain's chairs and navigation would probably cost me $42,000 out the door. That is just way too much when the expenditure and the opportunity cost of lost investment income are added together.

The 4Runner weighs much less, so its V6 would be OK, but it may be nearly as expensive as the Durango.

I think I'll go buy new seat foam & springs for the Explorer while they are still available, and just keep it another 100,000 miles. Reading about those here who have kept 4Runners for well over 200,000 miles makes me think I'm silly to be considering replacing it with just 159,400 miles on it.

Awesome news today, spoke with South County Dodge, in St. Louis, MO and received great news saying I could order the 2014 Durango. Spoke with the owner about ordering an Limited or R/T. Believe the wife is leaning toward the R/T. There was no mention from the owner saying the Rear DVD Entertainment Center was a late availability. So I was encouraged when she informed she could probably have in my hands before the end of September.

#632 ·
...There was no mention from the owner saying the Rear DVD Entertainment Center was a late availability.
Dealers will rarely mention "late availability" items as they don't want to jeopardize the order. Rear DVD, like the Grand Cherokee is indeed late availability. Was told today that the plant should be able to start production for models with the rear DVD systems on September 17th. I would plan on October for delivery of your vehicle.

Figured I'd have some fun and try to exactly calculate my total cost to the cent and see if I match the dealer. In California the DMV site has a TTL calculator which makes it easier and there's a cap of $80 for dealer doc fees and $75 Affiliate fee. Here's my best guess:

Invoice $41,304
Options $3,459
Dest $995
Total $45,758
-3% -$1,372.74
Total $44,385.26
TTL $4,383.00
Fees $155
Total $48,923.26

#640 ·
Does anyone have a range of discount from invoice with an affiliate control number?

My local dealer finally called me back (yet another, different salesperson). Now I have to decide where I'm going to wind up.

A 2013 not quite how we wanted it, or ordering a 2014 exactly as we desire.

I gave them what we wanted - so far two strikes on what they came back with.

I finally gave them the VIN of the 2013 Durango I found that had everything but the captains chairs.

Erg...

Holy crap things are moving faster than I thought. My MOTS entry just got updated with an estimated delivery 09/08/2013 and I ordered 08/09/2013.

I wonder if the color I choose moved me up in the line to group the same colors together or they are not getting alot of orders. Wonder what the odds are for factory incentives/rebates right off the bat, I'd think very slim but one can always hope.

There is no "batching" at the factory. JNAP folks do run a tight ship though...

#649 ·
So, I think we're joining the 2014 ranks.

My local dealer has searched in vain for a 2013. The two I had found via Dodge's inventory (and that were listed in the respective dealer's websites) are sold (or so they're telling me). One they said they found that was close, well, isn't.

They've agreed to let me order a 2014 (of course), but they're telling me my affiliate price is invoice less 1%, and of course there are no incentives currently on the 2014s.

Not sure what to do except to try and negotiate better numbers (play the no floorplan, etc angle).

Does anyone know if the Limited Safety, Security, and Convenience package is still delayed for production? Trying to decide if we really need it...

Sigh...

#657 ·
Woohoo! My ban has been lifted! For the people wanting the dvd option I read in a article to get tablets instead. The people using them can do what the want, games, movies, and surf the internet. The fact that the car has a hot spot built in with your choice of a day, week, or month (assuming your not using your phone as a hot spot) the tablet is a good choice. You could also choose to keep them in the car or take them with you on the go. Also I called my local dodge dealer Jeff dambrosio here in Pennsylvania. They said that they have 2 limiteds on order and are expecting them in about 4 weeks (spoke with him on monday).

#658 ·
I got my first quote on ordering my 2014 Limited.

Here's what I specified
2014 Durango Limited AWD
Tow Package - MSR
Navigation/Liftgate Package
Sunroof
2nd Row Captains Chairs
2nd Row Console
Safety, Security, Convenience

They came back with and MSRP (ready for this) of $47,515 :eek:

and a price to me of $44,648 which looks more like what the real MSRP is (I had MSRP including delivery at $44720). Feel free to check my numbers.

I realized i neglected to mention my affiliate status, but now I have to call them on their pricing and start working from invoice.

Jeff D'Ambrosio isn't far from me either. I'll have to give them a call in the morning.

My northern NJ dealer still refuses to discuss pricing except in person.

#659 ·
"Jeff D'Ambrosio isn't far from me either. I'll have to give them a call in the morning."

Yo back up off my Kool aid thats my spot lol jk, I have been talking to Larry (good guy) for sometime now as I was interested in a 13' but I heard the rumor about the 8 speed transmission and was holding off until they released the details on the 14. I am glad I waited. I really want a r/t but having the 2nd kid tomorrow morning (scheduled c section) I will most likely be looking at a rallye or limited. I like all the limiteds features but love the looks of the r/t-rallye. So Larry said when I come in to look at the limiteds and if they are not what I want, he said he will try to locate one or put a order in for one that I want.

#660 ·
You're right about the Kool Aid.

Congrats on number 2. Mine are 12 and 14 now.

Can I use your name when I call Larry (feel free to PM it to me) if necessary.

I wholeheartedly second the tablet thing instead of the DVDs. Infinitely more useful. We haven't used the DVD in either of our current vehicles in probably 5 years.

Luckily for us, the Limited with some options is the perfect balance for our needs.

#664 ·
I dont know if anyone knows the answer to this or not as I do not see or cant find any information on this. If you buy a 14 durango without remote start can you add a factory remote start system to it. I know for the previous style key fob (assuming the new durango comes with the jeep key fob) had a factory kit you could buy for like $260 and it came with 2 new fobs that added the remote start button and came with the harness, then you have to get it programmed. I have researched 2014 jeep remote start add on/kit as I would assume it would have been out by now for the jeep.

#666 · (Edited)
I plan on buying the Chrysler extended warranty so I searched chrysler forums to find the best places for the best price. Some will have prices right on the site, others you'll have to contact them with your VIN for a quote. For those that are interested here's the list I compiled:

chrysler-warranty-online.com
chryslerwarrantys.com
eservicecontracts.com
chryslerfactoryplans.com
chryslerwarrantydirect.com
chryslerfactorywarranty.net

#668 ·
Finally talked to Nader down at Koons. Sent him what we're looking for.

They're at 5% under invoice + TTL for the Durangos. He'd said the higher % discount was being done only for the Grand Cherokees.

Also heard back from my local dealer who came back at the standard 1% under invoice as part of the affiliate program. I've sent them a counter to see what they'll do.

Trying to decide if I reach out to one more dealer in the area. And waiting to hear back from two others.

#670 ·
My local dealership is sticking by the 1% under invoice, and that the program allows only for that plus any current incentives.

I thought it was possible to negotiate lower - does the dealer get penalized if it goes less then the preferred price? This place is decently high volume from what I can tell, though I think they do a bigger Jeep business than Dodge.

#673 ·
I guess I should have asked this before...

Are there any differences in the shape/sizing of the front seats between 2013 and 2014?

More importantly changes in the design of the front headrests between the two model years. My wife liked the seats in the 2013 and how the headrest felt against her head (in other words her pony tail fit comfortably).

We're worried that if we get a 2014 and there are problems we're going to be stuck with a truck she won't be comfortable driving.

Our vehicle would be WITHOUT the rear entertainment screens.

Fingers crossed that the seats are the same - impossible to tell from pictures.
