The features that I want to add are the rain-sensitive wipers and auto high beam. Doing what you said gets me adaptive cruise (don't want) and Nappa means that I would no longer be able to fold the front passenger flat in the event of large/long cargo (and the rear glass doesn't open). The extra cost for options not desired doesn't sit right and the Nappa includes the power tilt/tele yet specs of R/T below the packages suggests that it itself includes the power steering column (I think that might be incorrect based on Dodge spec sheet).

So in short, base on what you have said I will have to spend $1800 more than the SSCG and end up with options I don't want just to add rain-sensitive wipers and auto high beams. What is odd is that Dodge literature shows the SSCG as an option for the Limited and R/T.

Add in the fact that I have to have hand over another $4-500 just to get the same wheels painted a different color. If the '13 just didn't have the six speed...

Hey guys..

This is my first post..
I've been waiting for this car since december 2012 when I first heard that dodge might change it.. and been following this thread for a while now..

my problem is that I'm from Saudi Arabia.. and I have to wait for our crapy dodge agent to recieve their first shipment in order to place an order..

I'm planning for the top trim full option and as it has been said here I think m gonna wait till November for that to arrive..

can anyone give me any further details..??

#757 · (Edited)
To summarize for others who don't follow other threads on this site, looks like production has been stopped for all models/trims because of a seat bracket shortage, strike by the supplier employees. Hopefully this will get resolved soon, no idea, but for now production trim is at a stand still until JNAP get inventory. Guess I'm gonna lose my bet Immo.

Thread to follow on this subject:

Anybody have any thoughts on a cargo liner for the Durango? Likely won't use third row seats often and would like to have the extra cargo room behind the second row captain's chairs, but keep it protected. My cargo liner in my 14 yr old truck was a great investment. Thanks.

Getting the control number from my uncle tomorrow, so looks like I'll pull the trigger on a fully loaded Citadel this week. Seriously torn between the Hemi and Pentastar. I do like power, but I will also never tow anything more than 5000-6000 pounds. Travel trailer in the near future, boat possibly down the road. Engine choice is currently my only hold up.

Oh, and I'm a Realtor, so mainly city driving.

Really, if you think you are going to do a boat and or travel trailer, the Hemi will work better for you. You will loose some fuel mileage but less stressful if you are going to tow.

My dealer is telling me if I want the safety security and convenience group I'm my Limited I need to also order the amplified subwoofer/speaker.

Something about heavier gauge wiring...

Any truth to this? I definitely don't want the speaker option...but the SSC has good stuff in it.

Thanks

This sounds like bs.

#778 ·
That's what I thought too about need SSC and the audio package.

Here's what they said in the email (and this is the first 'game' I feel like they're playing):

It now appears that the order will have to have the additional option of the " 9 amplified speaker w/subwoofer" system in order to have the safety/security group. Apparently the heavier gauge wiring is necessary that comes only with the speaker system. Chrysler had a compatibility issue pop up in the system that has been updated over the weekend.....I'm just waiting on a quick simple confirmation on it as it skews the #'s based on the lack of correct compatibility restrictions in Chryslers system on the initial quote order we designed for you that didn't show the necessary restriction

This was followers out 20 minutes latt with an email that 'confirmed'thr need to have both.

Help...

#781 ·
Dealer is offering the addl option at no cost to me because the restriction want in place.

Starting to sound plausible..

If true can the subwoofer be removed? Wife needs that full storage compartment.

Haha if you dont want it I will swap out the sound system with you as I want the subwoofer and amp at least. I am most likely going to end up with the rallye and I do not think it is an available option. I was thinking about finding a total loss one and taking it out of there.

Here is the Order compatibility. It is possible your dealer has an order in the pipe for a vehicle with the added option. So maybe this is why he is doing this. You need to note that at this Level you need to do the added NAV at the dealer.
Was there a link or attachment with the compatibility?

I assumed with the Nav/lift gate package we got the premium RA4 UConnect from the factory...the PDF on page 1 ofthe thread suggests the package comes with the premium NAV.

My order is for a specific vehicle, not one in the pipeline as I haven't confirmed color choice.

Frustrated

I know this isn't comparing apples to apples but I just went on Edmunds.com and selected a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited (The 2014 Durango is still not configurable on there.) If I select the UConnect with Nav option and then select Advanced Technology Group (similar to Durango's SSC), that combination flags a message that warns I need to switch to the more expensive Luxury II group.

There is a Premium Group that takes care of that on the Durango, so close.... but I would suggest not comparing the two. You are Correct, Milous can dig into things I cannot begin to understand, I am sure he will review but if the system is wrong that might take some searching.

Milous once amassed so much information that Google used him to search.

Stay Thirsty My Friends!

#794 ·
Thanks for the clarification/info. I have to admit I'm disappointed, as this changes what we might do. I know it seems silly to give up over a subwoofer, but that storage was important.

Any idea if that subwoofer can be removed and the cargo tray replaced with the standard bin? Assuming the location is the same on the '13s and '14s.

#796 ·
By the way, it's not unusual to see options/requirements change, this is not uncommon at all. Could be any number of reasons, for example if they found that the take rate for those two options is very high, they may "combine" them to simplify building/ordering.

#799 ·
Agreed that its not unusual. Just not ideal for our situation.

If we order I'll have to get on the ball about a swap....or forgo the SSC.

Better to know now then later.

As always, thanks for the info.

#798 ·
Again, why I do not question the Jedi Master!

In checking it does appear that the information I had was not current today, my applogies.

I have included a picture for perspective though. It is still a lot of space. It takes up about a third... It is possible the new unit could be slightly different.
Wish the Harmon Becker system was an option.

#808 ·
Only if I can make it look like the sub and amp were never there. Doesn't the amp live in the well under where the flashlight is located?

Would need to return that to stock too.

#826 ·
Any idea if the features discussed at the beginning of this thread for the 2014 Rallye are the gospel? Namely, I noticed that some features that are listed on Media.Chrysler.com for the 2014 Durango have been changed according to what I see listed at the beginning on this thread. For example, the LED daytime running lights are now not listed as being available for the Rallye, but in the feature availability sheet from Media.Chrysler.com, they are listed as Standard. Any idea which is correct (if they're not available, I'm totally disappointed, as I thought the point of the Rallye was to incorporate many of the R/T features)? Also, the feature availability sheet that's in pdf format at the beginning of this thread is different from the one that's available on Media.Chrysler.com (click on Dodge (on the left side), click on Durango (on left side), and then go to ride side an click on 2014 Durango Feature Availability). For instance, the feature sheet at the beginning of this thread lists the "Customer Preferred Package" as standard for the Rallye, yet the one on Media.Chrysler.com doesn't list that anywhere. Any idea why that difference & which feature availability sheet is correct?

Here is the Parts Explosion..... This is 2013 Data, keep in mind some of these items may have changed. Milous may update, which I should point out, he knows what Chrysler is building before they do it seems.

I have seen twice this month where the order system was wrong and Milous was correct. (for the benifit of prior posters)

1-4 are the 2 cargo area cover configurations.
5 is the upgraded stereo bin (I am attempting to locate a diagram of the other part, I have all the part #s)
7 is the storage bin when you have no 3rd row
8 is a jack storage cover

This looks like a fairly big job but the 2 users who are interested in making the swap should do a little more exploring before pulling the two appart. let me know if there is something further I can provide.

Ugh, what a mess...those two bins look to be entirely different sizes front to rear in addition to side-to-side making me wonder if a swap is even possible especially with the jack relocation.

I'm now really starting to rethink taking the SSCG - it has a lot of good stuff, but the expense of making this swap just adds cost. A little sour  on the option bundling at the moment...

I know I've asked before - just to confirm again - the trailer tow group with its full size spare doesn't impinge on this storage area at all, does it?
