Find a dealer willing to work around the invoice price.

Hi Laurel,
I am also ready to order but am a bit lost without price info. I plan on talking to the dealer this weekend to figure out what the order process is.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not but I found a reference to a group called AccessFund. They have some kind of Chrysler Affiliate program. I joined today for $35 but you have to wait 30 days to get the new vehicle discount offer (1% below factory invoice). It seems like a good option... wish I had found it 30 days ago! Check out the details here: http://www.accessfund.org/site/c.tmL5KhNWLrH/b.7750487/k.6E60/Chrysler_Affiliate_Rewards.htm

Thanks, Fireman. Very helpful info. Might talk to my local dealership as well, and I will definitely check out the AccessFund group. This forum was a lucky find for me! Any thoughts on the Hemi vs the V6? When I test drove the 2013, the V6 seemed a bit sluggish if hesitant. Don't know how much the 8 speed transmission will affect that. Don't plan to do much if any towing.

You're welcome. I'm not sure how well it works but it sure seems like a good plan. I just did a search and found several references to it in various jeepgarage forums.

I put on a lot of miles and I see which way gas prices are going so I'm planning on the V6. Granted, when you do the math, the annual price difference for fuel wouldn't be monumental. My foot can be a little heavy so I think the V6 would help keep me off the shoulder of the road. Adding up a little extra for fuel, a little extra for insurance, a little extra for the Hemi itself, and a little extra for speeding tickets, the V6 wins for me.

Since the new Grand Cherokee is already out and has the 8-speed transmission, maybe somebody here can comment on the V-6 vs the Hemi.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Mated with the new 8-speed, the V6 is about as quick and responsive as the Hemi in the 2013. V6 vs. V8 fuel economy is pretty cut and dry (especially now with the 8 speed).

In my area unleaded is running around $3.64:
Annual Estimated Fuel cost - V6: $2,943.55
Annual Estimated Fuel cost - V8: $3,555.19

That's assuming combined MPG of 18.6 for the V6 and 15.4 for the V8, driving 15,000 miles per year and at the current fuel prices (though, they say the V8 should run mid-grade).

That said, with the V6 option the low range gear box is not available, that may or may not be an issue though depending on how you plan on using the rig.

Fireman and Temerarius, thx for the info, food for thought and continuing education. Would like to know I'd be happy with a v6, and know I'd be happy saving money on fuel, insurance and the vehicle itself. Won't cry if my husband insists we get the Hemi anyway. Don't know all my current engine specifics, but I know my 4Runner is a V6 with about 178hp. Think it weighs about 1000 lbs less than a Durango, and generally it keeps up pretty well, but I enjoy my rare opportunities to drive a vehicle that will easily get up and go when I want it to. I think this weekend will be about making some final decisions and figuring out the fastest best way to get a fair price on a new Citadel. In the meantime, I'll be checking back frequently for additional thoughts, opinions and info.

Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

Hi all, new here--stumbled across this thread from a link on the dodgeforums. I placed my order yesterday for a '14 R/T. No pricing info, but the dealer said we'd work off of invoice plus $500, minus incentives. Hard to argue with that! Anybody in Alaska looking to order, I can let you know where to go!

I see some folks talking about the VON tracker here at JG...what's that all about?

Level III and above supporters get their vehicles tracked in MOTS. It has more up to the minute tracking including rail yard info etc. Level 4 and up get the actual build sheet with their vehicle as well.

I am in MOTS for my 2014 Jeep.

Wish I knew how to estimate increases vs 2013. Time to start negotiating so I can do my small part to save Detroit. Curious about options others feel are a waste of money.

Ha, save Detroit?!? Born there, left a long time ago, Uncle works for Chrysler as did my grandfather, and 80% of my family still lives in the area.

Tell them to stop electing the same people, and maybe they'll be "saved" in my grandchildren's lifetime (my oldest son is 6).

Definitely not. I went to the dealer on Saturday and met with 2 salesman and the ordering guy in front of the sales manager in the booth. They said they placed their orders but didn't need pricing for that. They said "Maybe you'll like one of the ones what we ordered." They said pricing should be out in a month and I should just wait.

I'll be using a different dealer.
