Does anyone know the commonality between the grand Cherokee and the Durango?
Will an aftermarket from cross member that used to host a winch from a JGC fit the Durango ?

Wheels? Skid plates?

As the new Waggy is not coming yet this could be a nice interim solution .....

Dunno... maybe Chevy/Marlon would know?

I'd be curious about tow hooks myself. None of them appear to have them. I'm curious if it's like the Grand Cherokee Summit, where, to get them in, you'd have to do a non-factory sawsall hack-job to fit them.

#349 ·
Still no pricing info?

Any comments on the possibility of a diesel in the Durango later this year? The head of VM Motori said that they are increasing production and that any vehicle running the Pentastar could get the 3.0 diesel. That would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath. I also don't want to buy a Durango when it comes out, only for a diesel to be announced 3-4 months later.

#351 ·
Ever?

Or just MY14?

#354 ·
I haven't looked into it.,....because last I heard/checked...this was the last hurrah for the Rango. So I seriously doubt it. The durango just doesn't have the sales volume.

#355 ·
Makes sense, especially with the Waggy coming down the pipe.

#356 ·
yep...especially with the development costs involved with adding it to the wk2 GC. But the wk2 GC is Chryslers second best selling vehicle ONLY behind the Ram truck. So ChryCo and Jeep will get those costs back...wherein the WD costs would not be returned.

#357 ·
Being on the same platform development costs would be limited.

One issue is the $5000 price tag of the engine. How many Durango owners would pull the trigger on it?

Also the fact that the WK2 is global SUV sold in 128 countries and diesel is cheaper the gas in most of those countries... It was easier justify putting it into the WK2 and having it certified in the US. Although I'd be shocked if more than 10% of the WK2's in the US have the diesel option in 14 or 15.

By the sounds of things they are expecting to Build 14% blending of diesel initially with some backlogging for a while. Not likely to reach 10% for MY2014 but we will see.

Wish I was more of an auto techie, but alas I'm just a female who wants a 2014 Durango. Narrowed down to a Citadel, think I want a Hemi, hope gas prices come down, and yes, color matters. Moving to TX so will likely go with a lighter interior and exterior. Might do the black/light frost beige interior and am torn between the white and billet silver exterior. Any thoughts or opinions on color you would be willing to share? Thanks much.

#362 ·
...think I want a Hemi, hope gas prices come down...
I wish my dog would shit emeralds... they are both as likely to happen though.

That said, I'm a big fan of the Billet Silver. Reflects hot sun and is low maintenance (don't have to wash it all the time to keep it looking sharp).

#363 ·
Anybody have info on invoice pricing? Or anybody who has ordered on that pricing? Just curious to see the price points. Thanks

#372 ·
No pricing, huh....perhaps with all the enhancements we should want it at any price? Never ordered a new car in my life. Always negotiated for one on the lot or one my local dealer was willing to locate for me. I'm guessing negotiating leverage is minimal at this stage of the game. This is bound to get interesting....

#377 · (Edited)
Mated with the new 8-speed, the V6 is about as quick and responsive as the Hemi in the 2013. V6 vs. V8 fuel economy is pretty cut and dry (especially now with the 8 speed).

In my area unleaded is running around $3.64:
Annual Estimated Fuel cost - V6: $2,943.55
Annual Estimated Fuel cost - V8: $3,555.19

That's assuming combined MPG of 18.6 for the V6 and 15.4 for the V8, driving 15,000 miles per year and at the current fuel prices (though, they say the V8 should run mid-grade).

That said, with the V6 option the low range gear box is not available, that may or may not be an issue though depending on how you plan on using the rig.

#378 ·
Fireman and Temerarius, thx for the info, food for thought and continuing education. Would like to know I'd be happy with a v6, and know I'd be happy saving money on fuel, insurance and the vehicle itself. Won't cry if my husband insists we get the Hemi anyway. Don't know all my current engine specifics, but I know my 4Runner is a V6 with about 178hp. Think it weighs about 1000 lbs less than a Durango, and generally it keeps up pretty well, but I enjoy my rare opportunities to drive a vehicle that will easily get up and go when I want it to. I think this weekend will be about making some final decisions and figuring out the fastest best way to get a fair price on a new Citadel. In the meantime, I'll be checking back frequently for additional thoughts, opinions and info.

Hi all, new here--stumbled across this thread from a link on the dodgeforums. I placed my order yesterday for a '14 R/T. No pricing info, but the dealer said we'd work off of invoice plus $500, minus incentives. Hard to argue with that! Anybody in Alaska looking to order, I can let you know where to go!

I see some folks talking about the VON tracker here at JG...what's that all about?

Level III and above supporters get their vehicles tracked in MOTS. It has more up to the minute tracking including rail yard info etc. Level 4 and up get the actual build sheet with their vehicle as well.

I am in MOTS for my 2014 Jeep.

#384 ·
Definitely not. I went to the dealer on Saturday and met with 2 salesman and the ordering guy in front of the sales manager in the booth. They said they placed their orders but didn't need pricing for that. They said "Maybe you'll like one of the ones what we ordered." They said pricing should be out in a month and I should just wait.

I'll be using a different dealer.

#383 ·
Ha, save Detroit?!? Born there, left a long time ago, Uncle works for Chrysler as did my grandfather, and 80% of my family still lives in the area.

Tell them to stop electing the same people, and maybe they'll be "saved" in my grandchildren's lifetime (my oldest son is 6).

My advice:

Shop many dealers, the more the better. Work out a % below invoice ahead of time if you can. You will need a control number to get anywhere with this tactic (look into TreadLightly, or see if your employer is an affiliate).

Pit dealers against each other. You can easily get to 2%-3% under invoice from most dealers if you use these tactics. Above that amount, you will most likely need to use a large volume dealer (they recoup the losses on individual sales much easier just by moving large quantities of vehicles).

As for pricing, if you use the 2013 ->2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee as a model (price jump %), you'd be looking at a Base Citadel at around: $45,012.74 MSRP and $42,807.11 for Invoice.

Keep in mind, that's IF they do the same % price increase. Chances of that being accurate are sketchy at best (so don't quote me on it), but it's the best I have to work with right now given that they are both seeing the same refresh treatment to the interior and exterior.
