Re: 2014 Durango - Features and Changes

I picked up my '14 Limited V6 AWD last week. 200+ miles on it so far. I test drove a '13 V6 last year and it felt sluggish. So I've waited a long time, but the 8 speed was well worth the wait! Makes a HUGE difference in the responsiveness, and very smooth.

One thing I'm still getting used to is the steering. It steers a lot like my Dodge Dakota truck did, where you have to turn the wheel pretty far when making a sharp turn.

Sorry if someone already posted this, but I don't remember seeing it, and it got me so excited, that I still thought it would be worth posting even if I'm duplicating someone else's find:

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear you like it so far but your steering concern is interesting. I've never driven a Dakota so I'm hoping it's not as bad as I'm imagining it is.

I'd rather have that if I had a choice. I drove my Dad's '13 ML350 to Oregon and back recently and man is that steering tight, you sneeze and you're off the road. Way over boosted too, can hardly feel a thing.

Agree. Not having driven any of these, I'm hoping it is a happy medium.

I went down this road when I was looking at '13s and wanted to retrofit when I found one that met our needs except the full console.

The captains chairs are different; with the standard "min" console they have inboard arms that are not present with the optional "full" console.

There may also be wiring/mounting location differences too.
Dealer says the seats would indeed have to be swapped out, "costing thousands." Time for me to get over it.

It is gone. Did they post it before the embargo ended?

Hopefully, it will improve as it is broken-in, as that is just 1.4mpg better than my Explorer V8's real-world seven year average.
