Does anyone here know about the load leveling on the R/T, first, Do they have it? Second, how does it work? (air, mechanical ect...). Has anyone towed with the R/T with load leveling? I am sure the MY14 will have the same as the MY13 and was curious. I am coming from a MY12 GC overland with air ride and a Hemi. I need the Load leveling and it worked beautifully on the GC. Still waiting to see the new durango to decide on the 13 or 14. Thanks guys

If the revised front end of the Durango looks anything like this picture, Dodge will have a hit on their hands. With the change to the back and hopefully this look on the front, it will really transform the vehicle and make it stand out from a lot of the other SUV's on the road.
The only thing that may prevent this look is Dodge will perceive that it looks too much like the Ram, since that is no longer considered a Dodge, even though most of us still call them by that name instead of Ram.

#109 ·
I realize that this is just someone's guess at what it will look like. Honestly, that's not half bad, and I've been seriously dreading what the racetrack lighting would look like on the Durango.

#111 ·
Hmmm...this thread seems to have stalled a bit...and only a little longer than 2 weeks the NYIAS debut?

Don't know if you know about the availability of any of these things yet Milous, but I may as well ask anyway! ;)

1) Do you know if the Laguna leather option will be limited to R/T trim or if it will be available on other trims?

2) The DVD/Blu-Ray option...I know it's "late availability" for the GC, do you know if it will make it for the introduction of the Durango?

#118 ·
Laguna has not been green-lighted yet for production, it may be something offered later in the model year and would be R/T only. Nappa leather will be offered at launch. Since Durango launches in late August, DVD *could* be available, but supplies could be tight due to WK back-orders which may cause late availability on the Durango.

#115 ·
Marlon or Milous...any more tidbits at this point or will we just have to be patient for another two weeks? Forgive my ignorance, but how long does a pilot build take to complete?

The anticipation is killing me and doing everything in my power to keep the wife from buying a MY13. It will be her new ride but I should have a say, right fellas? If most of what we've heard makes it into production, the MY14 should not disappoint...

#122 · (Edited)
The silence is a bit deafening, isn't it?

If this is the case, I will join the others and say that I think it's a good thing. I personally prefer a more "masculine" or "truck like" appearance of SUVs / Crossovers compared to say a "rounded" or "flowing" appearance.

1) More like Ram Truck = Good.
vs.
2) More like 2014 Jeep Cherokee = Bad.

Of course...it all depends on the specific execution....

#123 ·
that looks more like the previous gen. Durango to me. i think thats the pic from the ChryCo bankruptcy filings and plans to recover they supplied the govt.

#124 ·
Thanks for saying exactly what I was thinking. That's the wrong direction to take with the front end in my mind. Honestly, with the exception of a bit more room under the hood, I think the front end is plenty mean as it is. The rear end is a diff story, but some led race track lighting with black accents would sure go a long way. As was said, it's all about execution...

#125 ·
Im with you JoeyD ... I think the current Durango is more truckish then anything out there and was almost ready to trade in a Trailblazer for a '13 Durango ( I think the Traverse and the others are to mini-van-ish looking) until I heard of all the upgrades in the '14.... I hope the front end gets a little more aggressive and retains the truckish look. We are planning to attend the New York Auto Show one day so I guess I will see it there.

#127 ·
So, an update... the Durango's front end refresh isn't as extensive as the Grand Cherokee, but it's more than enough to make me actually like the vehicle this time around. ;)

#129 · (Edited)
Well there's not much else to say. You already know everything new about the Grand Cherokee. The Durango's upgrades are similar. I could describe the LED DRLs but the best I can say is "Hockey Stick".

Dangit, I just leaked another tidbit! LOL

To redeem my secretive, yet descriptive self, a lot of things about the refreshed Durango could be described like "hockey stick". ;)

Oh, and how long does it take to build a PILOT BUILD!!! ? Not much longer than a regular production build.

I suppose the new rotary shifter knob could be described as a "hockey puck".

Your secretive self has certainly contributed to the intrigue. I have never had so much built up anticipation to drop +$40k on a depreciating asset.

Thanks for clearing up the build time for me...I guess you didn't notice that i'm a noob with a total of 3 posts. ;)
