Looked gorgeous in black. Making me re-think my Granite order. But I suppose I'll just need to see one in Granite now to put me at ease!

I only had a short test drive, but seating position and "feel" was great. I will have to get used to the lack of a shifter though...I typically tend to rest my right hand on the shifter if it's not on the wheel.

My limited use of the NAV/Radio was very good. Very responsive to every touch I made. The 7" TFT gauge cluster was slick.

Re: 2014 Durango production

They also had a black R/T on the lot. Unfortunately, it was sandwiched between a few cars so I could not get decent pics. (This was not the dealer I placed my order with, so I did not want to waste their time and have them move cars around.)

I did get a close-up snap of the optional R/T (polished with gloss black pockets) wheel:

Glad you actually got to see one in person and take for that short test drive. I'm with you on the knob shifter. Sadly, I'm old enough to recall changing channels that way. Fourteen years of resting my right hand on the shifter...I have horrible visions of my hand flopping around uselessly.....or endangering myself and others as I fiddle with that huge touch screen.

Thanks for the pictures. The black does look awesome.

And thanks for the comments on the seating and use of the touch screen.

On the plus side...we should be driving with both hands on the wheel...with the paddle shifters on the wheel it should encourage that.

Re: 2014 Durango production

Driving down the Hardy Toll road in Houston, I passed by the train Depot where they unload all of the new cars to transport to local dealerships. Saw a Deep Cherry Limited and a Billet Silver Citadel loaded on the top row of the 18 wheeler. Even at highway speeds and a hundred plus yards away, I immediately spotted the tail lights.

Laureljoke,
Any chance the Citadel is yours? I don't think I've seen any Silver Citadels "in transit" on the Houston area dealers except River Oaks, so maybe....

I'm jealous of you guys getting to see the 2014s in person. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a Durango until I could see/drive a 2014 R/T especially with the deals available on the 2013. I think the 2014 will justify the price difference of ~$4k.

I'm not a fan of these optional R/T wheels. I'm looking forward to some "real" pics of the hyper black standard R/T wheels though

OMG......just read on MOTS that mine was taken off a train in Westfield TX. I bet that is it! Hope the top doesn't get scraped off going under any overpasses. Can't get there until a week from Saturday. This is going to be a LONG 10 days going into the home stretch. Wonder where the dealer will keep it, and how many birds will initiate it while it hangs around outdoors? Crap....literally.

Thx for the great spot, and River Oaks is my destination!

Re: 2014 Durango production

It's sad when your brand new Durango is only 60 miles away locked up in a rail car. Stuck out in the heat without a friend in sight....

LOL! A bit too much drama, but you get the idea...

Est Delivery date is Monday. Tick Tick Tick....

Ten days and 880 miles for me. Woe is me . Oh, wait......we are much closer to the prize than many who are still waiting, and waiting, and waiting.....and that's just to have their vehicles produced. Guess I'll do a happy dance instead.

I was looking around at the local dealer's 2014 inventory (nobody has any in yet, but several now have vehicles "in transit".) I found (unexpectedly) one VIN that is said to be in transit that includes the rear DVD:

Flemington Dodge Citadel with Rear DVD
Window Sticker

Only thing I don't know is if when the dodge new vehicle listing states "in transit" does that mean the vehicle is in fact actually built and in transit, or just that it has been ordered by the dealer...
Can anyone, such as Milous, confirm that the Rear DVD package is now available as shown on the link JoeyD provided?

I thought we were still looking at a Sept 17 availability.

Thx for the great spot, and River Oaks is my destination!

I just googled Westfield, TX and that is the spot that I passed by. Crazy that i just so happened to pass by at the exact time it was out there. It was loaded on the truck at around 9:30 this morning. When I passed back by around 2:00 I was on the lookout but the truck was already gone.

I've yet to put in an order and don't think I'll be able to hold out much longer as I check this forum multiple times a day. I've even resorted to checking my local dealer sites to see if there ate any R/Ts in transit, hoping that I can magically find one optioned out exactly as I want. Seems there are very few 2014s in transit to the Houston area. I've had better luck looking at dealers in Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin and yet I still haven't been able to find a Billet Silver R/T on the way.

Maybe I'll head over to River Oaks to see yours! I'm sure they will put it in the showroom roped off so no one can touch it (including the birds). Although the bigger problem this time of year are the love bugs. Be ready to kill a couple million of them on the drive back north once you pick up the car.

I wish Dodge would update their "search inventory" function on the web to be able to search on "2014" models, the Durango isn't an option.

A small road trip may be in my future if I can't find anything in Houston.
