Well, The first Durango I ordered was on the second day that the order banks opened back in July. I'm still tracking it on VOTS, and it still has not made it to production.

On the first page of the new features and changes thread Milous has indicated Sept 21 as the start of production. The vehicle I'm tracking on VOTS should be one of the first with DVD to be produced...ill let y'all know when I Se any movement on it...

Sounds like it probably is yours. That's some good spotting skills! Hope they don't park it under a light pole!

Waiting... that's all this process has been with so many of us getting yanked around in the beginning. I know all of the Durango's in this first round of deliveries slipped a good week or more. My estimated delivery date of 9/26 hasn't changed so I'm wondering if there is a surprise additional wait for me now? If not, I would think they should be getting ready to build it in the next few days. Is there any e-mail message or notice from VOTS that it's being built? Otherwise, unless I check VOTS every few hours (and I will neither confirm nor deny that I do that!!!), I could miss the whole thing. Not that there's anything to see anyway since they're stock images. Regardless, what's a. . .f e w. . .m o r e. . . w e e k s ? ? ?

I've yet to put in an order and don't think I'll be able to hold out much longer as I check this forum multiple times a day. I've even resorted to checking my local dealer sites to see if there ate any R/Ts in transit, hoping that I can magically find one optioned out exactly as I want. Seems there are very few 2014s in transit to the Houston area. I've had better luck looking at dealers in Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin and yet I still haven't been able to find a Billet Silver R/T on the way.

Maybe I'll head over to River Oaks to see yours! I'm sure they will put it in the showroom roped off so no one can touch it (including the birds). Although the bigger problem this time of year are the love bugs. Be ready to kill a couple million of them on the drive back north once you pick up the car.

I wish Dodge would update their "search inventory" function on the web to be able to search on "2014" models, the Durango isn't an option.

A small road trip may be in my future if I can't find anything in Houston.
From what I have seen R/Ts are pretty rare. Your best bet is to order one.

If I was getting an R/T, (more monotone look) I would probably prefer the standard hyper black finish as well. My personal interest in the optional R/T wheels is for a possible replacement for the Citadel wheels.

I wasn't sure if I would be happy enough with the 15 spoke design on the Citadel, but I do want a bright finish to compliment the citdel chrome. The optional R/T wheel is a combination of a bright finish with the gloss black and I think would work.

After seeing the citadel wheels in person though, I think I'll be happy enough with them to not spend any extra on changing the wheels.

What timing. I'd almost encourage you to order....I'm getting exactly the options I want, not paying for those I don't, and from my order date of 8/9 it is barely longer than a month and it has almost reached its destination. Good luck negotiating with Dallas dealers. That's where I'm eventually moving so I started there. They laughed when I told them the deal I was getting in Houston. That's why I am eventually heading to Houston, but unfortunately starting and returning much farther north....for awhile. Roped off on the floor? Don't I wish. Love bugs? We endured that nightmare when building a house in Florida decades ago. They were stuck in paint and we endured them on our cars every season that we lived there. Nasty b*stards. I'll add bug remover to my road trip list.

The Dodge website is very weak, IMHO. We can and have ordered 2014s, 2013s are no longer being produced, so why wasn't a seamless software update ready to roll?

I might be in the minority, but I still REALLY like the white, especially with the redesigned taillights. Looks so crisp and clean and cool, even if a bit like an ambulance. I'll continue chanting to myself....billet won't show the dirt, I hate to wash the car, billet won't show the dirt.....

Re: 2014 Durango production

Man, I walk away for a few hours and the thread explodes...

Laureljoke - congrats on the truck almost arriving. The wait will stink, but you're closer to the metal than many of us. Bet on what happens first? You getting to your truck, or me getting my VON??

Immo - Good luck for Monday delivery

Its amazing to me how many trains these vehicles take en route to their destinations. Makes one realize how robust the cargo rail system still is in the US.

Robtown - Amazing sighting. Its a small world.

I'd recommend finding a dealer that will make a deal and order your R/T. Part of what drove us to ordering a 2014 was the futility in the location process with dealers in our area. Granted the number of 2013s that fit our needs was dwindling, but between trying to work a deal and have them really look for a truck we wasted weeks where an order could have been placed. Granted we were still trying to decide between Durango and a competitor, but if you aren't, just order. Maybe start with Laurel's dealer.

dodgermspt - thanks for the videos

JoeyD - and I was actually wondering if I should have just gone with the 20" wheels and done the Premium package on our Limited. I've got 3/4s of the equipment already after they made the upgraded speakers mandatory with the SSCG...Too late now as the order is in and I can't imagine making our dealer rework the numbers.

Fireman - I've got my fingers crossed for a mid October trip to Maryland. Oddly enough, my wife has a work trip in Baltimore mid month.

Whew...
