Re: 2014 Durango production

Thanks Dave and Fireman,

I'll see if Milous has any info, might PM him if we doesn't see this post, seems these threads are getting pretty active.

Would be nice if I could put an order in next week and the production start on the 21st, then I wouldn't be too far behind. I doubt I would be able to find an R/T optioned out like I want anyway so ordering is probably n my future regardless. It just comes down to whether or not I want to spend the money for the DVD as opposed to tablets. My 2 year old already uses our iPad on longer road trips sometimes, but the Rear DVD is appealing to gain control back (like I even have it to begin with). Ah decisions, decisions...

Anyone notice that the red R/T from "The FastLane" review video had the DVD package? I guess some of the preproduction models got it.

Mine was unloaded yesterday at 3:25 PM so I feel your pain....

I know some of the Chrysler Exec's got them in there company Test cars back in July...

On the DVD's...

My daughter is now 4 and I've had rear head rest DVD's in my Jeep for about 2 years... When we first got them she wanted to watch a movie when ever we got in the car. Even to the Grocery store 5 mins away. For the cost and the headaches I am just sticking with the iPads in the Durango. Plus I can pawn my old one off on my son when the new model comes out....

I did notice. I guess it makes sense if they wanted the press to be able to comment on them and their availability. One wonders if the production delay was due to problems found in those pre-production units.

...and always happy to help...

I actually have TWO v-6 citadels with rear dvd ordered and are in pre-release status. I decided to change colors after the VIN was assigned on my original and my dealer had no problem placing a second one for me.

The one that I assume will go into my dealers inventory is black with tan interior. It has the captains chairs with full rear console, tow package, and tech package.

MOTS is only tracking my second order (crystal granite), but I can still track the black one on VOTS to see when it goes into production. Since the order was placed on the second day the order banks opened, I assume it will be one of the first produced.

Maybe it's possible it can be redirected or something if you are interested. Let me know and I can put you in touch with my dealer...

Re: 2014 Durango production

I just spoke to John from the Dodge dealer in Flemington, NJ; he said that they just received a fully loaded 2014 True Blue Citadel w/ the rear DVD entertainment system. I ordered a Granite Citadel on 8/9 with the rear DVD option (I'm in "Production Scheduled" on VOTS) and have been following this site--and Donlen--for production information, both of which have indicated initial rear DVD production to start on 9/17, and now 9/21. So needless to say I'm wondering how it's possible that Flemington Dodge could have this vehicle...!

That dealer is about 45 minutes from me...I was wondering that too. I seem to recall that Marlon at one time said that some pilot builds can end up being sent to retail for sale. Perhaps this is one case....

If the vehicle is on their website is there a link to the window sticker? That'll show the equipment.

Edit: here's the sticker. According to this its got the rear DVD...and every other option too from the look of it

Forwarded your post to my son-in-law. They really didn't particularly want the center console (want the extra seating) and my daughter isn't a fan of black, but he's going to see what she says. They may just sit on that for a few days. What they really wanted was Red with black seats, Technology package, Towing package, skid plate and rear entertainment. Thanks for the heads up though. You might pm me the contact info for your dealer in case they change their mind.

Re: 2014 Durango production

stopped at a local dealership in northern NJ this morning and saw a 2014 SXT in person. I frankly found its looks stunning. I posted several shots below (not the greatest). A few things: the change to the grill really does the trick (gives it a real "wow" look); the rear lights really spiff up the rear end, which was needed; and the cloth interior is actually very impressive (this one was black, but its weave is very tight, great texture on it, and I swear that if you're looking from outside, you might think they were leather) . Also, this one had 18 inch tires on it, but to me in person they actually looked pretty beefy & wide. I think only if you had them side by side with the 20 inchers would you notice anything. Couldn't tell if those are LED lights under the front headlights -- which I thought weren't going on the SXT, but these might actually be them (see pic below). I can't believe Dodge is eliminating this vehicle after 2014. On the other hand, I won't mind it if these become collectors items down the road, and the dearth of them on the highways will make me feel like I've got something that's pretty unique. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I'm wondering if these will be SUVs in the future that will be looked back upon as comparable to the classic muscle cars of the 60s and early 70s.

Re: 2014 Durango production

Too bad they require at least the Limited to get the V8, as the cloth might be cooler. Of course, the leather is probably more durable.
