I'll be damned, they called soon as I posted. Going in at 2pm to get it and the sales guy said they would not mount the front plate. Woo hooo, hump daaaaay! ok it's monday.
Lucky fellow. SO happy for you. Good news on the front plate. Can't wait for your excellent and ongoing reviews. Woo hoo. And Immo, playing solitaire with your Durango deck will be NO consolation at all. Hope you get the call next!!

While we wait with Immo, and for a review from vertrkr, may I ask how you guys plan to listen to music in your new vehicles....aside from Sirius/XM and the radio? I have a couple thousand songs on an iPod hooked into our home stereo. Would like to leave it there. I could load up playlists on a smaller iPod for the car, or perhaps an SD card or flash drive. Yes, I'm a dinosaur, but I opted NOT to get the CD player and I would just like to figure out the best way to travel with some of my current favorite playlists. Any suggestions and gentle ribbing gladly accepted. Thx!

Re: 2014 Durango production

Hehe, VOTs says I'm still in shipment, all hail MOTs. Picking her up in 45 minutes. I'll probably post my initial mini review tomorrow, rest of the day will be the dealer and softball games this evening.

Obviously my interest is in a Durango for my daughter, but I can tell you that I have the Sync system in my Ford Escape and I listen to a ton of stuff through it. It almost exclusively through my iPhone and its bluetooth connect to the radio. Works great for music, but also audiobooks, NPR via an NPR aggregator I use that puts all NPR stations that stream in one place, as well as an iphone aggreator app called "Swell". My daughters do the same, but spent quite a bit of time Spotify or Pandora. So I would be listening to most stuff that way. Very little time would be on the AM/FM, SAT or CD. Or even on an ipod connected by wire. Only thing I might try is the apps on the radio.

This was very informative and helpful, thanks. I've got an iPhone 5 and am hoping the Bluetooth connectivity will work well. I'm going to check out the Swell Aggregator app now. Enjoy a good audiobook also for hours or days on the road. Appreciate your suggestions!

I think they're getting a lot of that ironed out, insofar as bluetooth is concerned. On the Ford system, it picks up the bluetooth pretty quick. I contrast, we have a JVC aftermarket bluetooth radio in my daughter's Neon, and it takes forever to establish a bluetooth connection. And on the Ford, it will left you have quite a few paired at once, so when a person gets into the car with a previously paired phone, it will automatically pick up the connection.

Besides bluetooth, the rest of the Ford radio is pretty average. They followed the old adage of "that'll do" Just good enough to say it works, but not very well. I hope that's not the same on the Durango, but fear it might be. I suspect navigation works well, and the screen size will be great to monitor information coming from your iPhone, but as for the rest, well we'll have to wait for the reviews, including your's! Problem is that auto companies don't tend to upgrade the hardware much. Like for example this system comes with the 3G data connection with the hotspot. What's up with that? The world is moving to 4G LTE, just like you iphone 5. 3G is what my iphone 4 has, and it's nearly 3 years old. I haven't seen anything to suggest that there will be a way to upgrade to 4G LTE, and I doubt there will be.

You can try a tow hook plate as well.

Re: 2014 Durango production

Found this Video from the Fast Lane Car. They can't talk about the drive yet, but they will soon; this is due to a two week fairness contract they have with dodge so that every reviewer gets to see the car first.
