what were the ultimate reasons your wife chose the Durango? Just curious as I'm trying to convince my wife of its merits. Last winter we test drove both the 203 Explorer and 2013 Durango and she favored the Explorer and disfavored the Durango (she thought it was too long looking . . . I quote her: "it looks like a 'funeral car'" (she's from Europe, go figure). Since that time, I've fallen in love with the Durango (still love the wife) but am hoping to convince her that the 2014 Durango is the one to get. (It didn't help that the sales rep ran roughsod over us during an evening apt. last winter, running to his mgr every 5 minutes to confirm something while our 4 year old's & our patience wore thin).

Re: 2014 Durango production

Colors????

A dealer in NJ shows an inbound 2014 Limited in the Deep Cherry Red. The listing on the dealer's website links to a window sticker that has the color combination listed with Light Frost interior.

I thought the Deep Cherry Red wasn't available on the Limited...

If it is, I think our color choice is made.

We were looking for the Corvette. This isn't the Chevrolet dealer, is it?

We were between a 2013 Acadia and the Durango. My wife liked the Acadia better for a couple of reasons (7 passenger, dual pane sunroof, felt "familiar" to her - like driving her Odyssey).

It primarily came down to dollars - we have a great deal in place on the Durango, and a better value on our trade in. The Durango from a cost perspective has more features, feels more luxurious, and I think is the better vehicle especially with the '14 updates.

We had issues with shenanigans from most of the local Dodge dealers, or they just couldn't meet the deal I have with an out-of-state dealer. The GMC salesman was much more attentive, and tried to earn our business.

Neither one of us liked the Explorer.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm from northern NJ. which dealer you end up going with if don't mind me asking (I apologize if you've already discussed this before)?

there are two different red colors for the durango. Redline (I think) is only available on the r/t and sxt rallye. The deep cherry red I thought was available on all other trims.

Correct on the two reds, but on page 1 of the 2014 Durango Features and Changes thread the colors listed under the Limited are:

PSC Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat
PW7 Bright White Clear Coat
PXR Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat
PAU Granite Crystal Met. Clear Coat
PAR Maximum Steel Met. Clear Coat
PFS Sandstone Pearl Coat
PBU True Blue Pearl Coat

but true, that the post also shows the following as exterior colors:

Billet Silver Metallic
Bright White
Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat
Sandstone Pearl Coat
Deep Cherry Red Crystal (except Rallye & R/T)
Granite Crystal Metallic
Maximum Steel Metallic
Redline 2 Coat Pearl (Rallye & R/T only)
True Blue Metallic

Another member here said they couldn't order the Deep Cherry on a Citadel in recent weeks.

That was me. Red didn't come up as a color choice on the dealer's computer during the order process. They were a little stumped as the Feature and Paint brochures showed it as a choice for the Citadel. Being early in the game I guess all the info & systems aren't fully in sync yet.

Re: 2014 Durango production

Anyone have access to the PDI documents? The last few cars I bought the PDI flunkies always seemed to forget something like fuses and pulling drain plugs. I'd really like to double check their procedures.
