Yeah, looks like it's up to 5% for employees, family members, etc. and 1% for "friends." The family members are pretty inclusive though if you look at that sheet and I would qualify for the up to 5% discount. And, according to that sheet, it does appear that you can negotiate even further down from that.
We actually have to choose who's discount we want to use. Family member says he thinks his is 3% below invoice, but we have a family friend that is pretty high up in Chrysler (VP) that apparently will get an even better discount according to others that have used one of his control numbers in the past. Guess we can get both control numbers and have the dealer run them both and see what yields the biggest discount.
Thankfully, the dealers around here are much more willing to deal below invoice. They're even advertising below invoice prices to customers right now without control numbers or anything. Had one dealer said he would not only give me the discount for employees, but exceed that. There's lots more competition here in Michigan for domestic vehicles so that could be the reason for more aggressive pricing.
All this talk and I'm still a long way off. Plan on waiting until I see what my bonus is at the end of the year to put towards the down payment. Could order now and let it ride, but if it isn't as big as I expected, I'll be like Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation with the Jelly of the Month Club.
