The fact that people younger than 42 years seven months and three days are allowed to post is outrages...... Those young whippersnappers should not interfere when grown ups are talking about their cars! And tomorrow we raise the age limit to 42 y 7 m 4 d :-) PS As much as I hate to agree with the young crowd, I think the black R/T is the slickest looking Durango. And if not for the fact I already have a blacked out black 2012 JGC, I would have ordered mine in black myself.

Here are the pics of my splash guards. Installation was very easy... drive into dealer, wait 20 minutes, drive away. Although it loos like they would have been easy to do them myself. Century offered to take care of them and I took them up on it.

Skip it. Steals more than half the space in the center console (there are JGC owners that have gone through the effort of getting rid of it). Use an SD card with your music and plug that into the media card slot.

Or play your songs from your phone via bluetooth.

Hey....those splash guards look great, and your Durango looks like you detailed it five minutes ago. Nice reflective finish!

Thanks! You know, I was torn -- it's actually not that clean and I wanted to wash it before I took the pics but I just didn't have time. That's the beauty of our color choices!

It's hard to get a good, detailed picture of something black but they really do look pretty decent and they work well. The rear splash guard is embossed with "DODGE".

Re: 2014 Durango Questions & Observations

How bright is your racetrack light? I noticed tonight that mine seems very bright and I wonder if it is supposed to be. It looks as bright as I would expect if the brakes were on. The brake lights come on and off when the brakes are pressed, but the racetrack stays the same brightness all the time when the lights are on. Is yours the same way?

Yup, they're all that bright. Nobody gonna be tailgating us.

I love the brightness of the race track. When I start the car and see the garage light up red it makes me very happy.

Other observation. It was finally cold enough today that when I started my car from my phone before I left where I was earlier, the car auto turned on my steering wheel and seat heat. I did not have them on when I left the car. I noticed the car only turned on the vent seats maybe twice when I started the car w/o being in it. Being as we all got our cars when it was already rather cool out, it never really reached a warm enough temperature for the ventilated swats to activate and the a/c to turn on. Anyway I wonder what the temperatures have to be at for this feature to activate whether cold or hot.

I'd like to see the Uconnect (since it's got the cell service) tell me that the car turned on (feedback) as well as give me certain options from my phone before the car is activated by pressing the ignition button. Let me set the temperature and other basic settings (seats) before I get in the car. Maybe if I get held up after starting the car, tell me it's about to shut off and give me the option to extend the time.

+1

Love the tail lights, format and all. The other night a Charger (with the race track tail lights) passed us, and my wife who is anything but a car fanatic said "is that another Dodge?"

Yep...that's the Dodge signature...she likes them too. Very distinctive, and we've had a few people comment on them.

Thanks for the responses on the racetrack. It definitely stands out - especially on dark country roads.

That would be nice to have advanced functionality through uConnect. When I first got the uConnect app for my phone I thought "where are the other functions?" but sadly they're not there.

Re: 2014 Durango Questions & Observations

I gave in. After letting this bang around in my head for months, and getting surprised by the pricing -- I couldn't take it, anymore!

I ordered my Durango Citadel tonight.

Citadel 4WD
HEMI -- I struggled a lot with this decision!
Technology Group
Captain Chairs
Center Console for 2nd Row
Tow Group IV
Skid Plate
Remote CD Player
Exterior: Sandstone
Interior: Light Frost Beige

MSRP: $52,115 with Freight, but without Doc Fees.
Sale Price: $46,703, with Freight.

I will owe $200 Doc Fees, Taxes and Tag Transfer Fees only.
Percentage of Discount from MSRP: -10.384% -- not quite the absolute best as reported by TrueCar, locally or nationally. But not the worst, either.

The Dealer -- whom I put through the wringer the last several weeks -- did not demand that I sign anything, nor that I even pay a deposit. The order was placed over the phone.

I'm sorry guys, but my subscription to this thread doesn't seem to be working, so I missed the suggestions for the Mt. Airy dealership. I ended up buying from Ourisman in Bowie, MD. They're actually in a temporary tent-building of sorts while their new building is underway -- and 15 minutes from work. Free shuttle service, etc. Plus, I put them through hell.

I also missed the posts on the CD taking up so much room. I'll think about that, but -- knowing me -- I'll never get around to converting those CDs. But the unit really does look awkward, to me. Like an after-thought. I don't think I'm afraid of the lost space so much -- my center consoles have a tendency to collect junk, more often than not. Still, it's $450 that's probably wasted.

Really, what made me decide? Sometimes, you just gotta say "WTF!" -- and trust you made the right decision. That -- plus I calculated every which way I could, and could not see how even a $2,000 discount affected the payment all that much. So, if Chrysler offers a better cash-back incentive before it arrives -- great! If not, it's not a deal-killer. I was waiting for the Dealers to blink on pricing, but I guess I blinked first.

Finally, I did reconsider the R/T and color choices. All points were well-spoken. But the Sandstone is a color I've never had, and black is an interior that I have -- and my Ridgeline was stealthy enough with little chrome and dark wheels -- and I'm not in love with that look. Although, admittedly, 20-somethings at work apparently ARE.

Congratulations! I spoke to Ourisman briefly because I thought they had a car I wanted to do a DX with at Koons. At the end if the day, you're right. The $2,000 is nothing and it comes down to preference between chrome and the sporty sportylook. I'm just out of my 20s (30) so I guess I'm still in that mentality and that's why I went with the R/T. Keep us updated on your new journey! Hemi was a good decision evening I only getting 11.5 MPG. I'm posting pictures to the MPG thread now.
