How do you know this? They just did a major interior/exterior overhaul and added the 8 speed? what kinds of changes other than interior/exterior will they make in 1-2 years?
I understand that the SRT won't come out, but you said the Durango is being axed on its current platform, do you mean the SRT platform or dodges in general?
The Durango escaped the butchering block several times apparently. 4 years later and BOOM! SRT Durango is a go. One begs to ask the question. . Why in the world did it take this long? Will it be built for one year and finally axed after a 7 year ride?
We had some good face time with Ralph Gilles at Carlisle, and he was pretty clear that there wasn't going to be an SRT Durango. Of course, things could change.
My *guess* is that the Durango is going to ride out the current platform, plus or minus some "grand wagoneer" insanity. Next generation, do not know. Probably depends on the uptake of the renewed '14+ Durango. A lot of this depends on product positioning, which is a bizarre exercise even on a good day.
sorry...my post was done on my mobile and very unclear. and filled with typo's. LOL. Last I heard....the Durango will not continue on the jeep platform....but could show back up down the road on a fwd platform.
My gut says that in terms of product positioning, a 'grand wagoneer' kind of thing makes more sense as the evolution of the Durango.
A Durango on a car platform (a three-row people hauler) is basically a minivan, so the people who care about the marque I think would really rather another name. Call it a "Savoy" or something.
I just got a 17 R/T and I'm loving it. It survived because it's a great platform. And now with the new upscale dash it's even better. If they add the panorama roof it will be awesome......
