Re: 2014 v6 8-speed vs 2013 5-speed

During my research I drove both a '13 R/T and a '14 R/T. The '13 has a 6 speed. I know - not the question you asked but wanted to share my thoughts. The 8-speed is definitely a smoother ride. You barely feel the shifts and yes - fuel economy is slightly better although fuel economy is all about how you drive.

I see many '14 R/T folks posting 15/16 MPG combines whereas I am getting 18/19 MPG combined so far with 670 miles on the clock. I drove my wife's '08 SRX V6 last week while she was out of town - she gets a combined average of 15.5 MPG, I was getting 19 MPG.

The '14 has so much more. I know you stated these changes were not of interest to you but you should take a closer look. Aside from an LED rear light and other cosmetic changes the bigger changes are on the inside. New infotainment center, paddle shifters etc.

Also - dealers are doing deals on the '14's. Yes - you will get a better deal on the '13. But for a tad extra you will get the newest of the new.

Good luck on your test drive.

- Danny

Re: 2014 v6 8-speed vs 2013 5-speed

Thanks for the reply Danny.

We test drove the 2014 yesterday and have decided not to get the 2013. The 14 drove a lot nicer and we did like the interior changes more as well. I didn't notice any lag from the stop but my wife was also driving The 2014 was a lot smoother and definitely quicker, which could get her in trouble lol. Overall the 2014 is quite an improvement.

Thanks for all the responses, hopefully this thread will help others making the decision as well.
